Ernest Urtasun

Ernest Urtasun Domenech (born 27 January 1982, Barcelona) is a Spanish politician, diplomat and economist.

He earned a degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, followed by a postgraduate degree in international relations from the University of Barcelona. Since 2012, he has been member of the trade union Comisiones Obreras.

Between 2004 and 2008 he was secretary of Initiative for Catalonia Greens (ICV) MEP Raul Romeva. Later, he began working as a diplomat and in 2011 became director of the general secretariat of the international organization Union for the Mediterranean.

In his political work, he is a member of ICV responsible for international relations. For the European elections in 2014, he led the party list, ranking third in the Izquierda Plural list.[1][2] After his election to the European Parliament, he joined the Group of the Greens/EFA.
