Europa Galante

Europa Galante is an Italian period instrument Baroque orchestra founded by violinist Fabio Biondi in 1990 and directed by him.

The ensemble has been invited to play at most important festivals and concert halls as La Scala in Milan, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Wien Konzerthaus in Vienna, Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera House, and at Kraków Philharmonic.

Repertoire

Europa Galante is well known for its spirited interpretations of baroque classics.The orchestra began its career with an innovative interpretation of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. Europa Galante do have a large repertoire that includes pieces like Cavalli's Operas, Caldara's Oratorios, Scarlatti's Oratorios and concertos, Chamber music, and during the last years even Bellini's Norma, and Donizetti's Anna Bolena.

Europa Galante first record for the OPUS 111 French label, and after record for 10 years of Virgin Classics with repertoire like Vivaldi's Stravaganza, Scarlatti's "Concerti e Sinfonie", and Boccherini's Quintets as well as operas like Vivaldi's Bajazet and Ercole sul Termodonte. Their records have won an impressive list of international awards. They have been nominated twice for a Grammy Award in 2004 and in 2006.

Now Europa Galante collaborates with the label GLOSSA; releases include: 2013 "Il diario di Chiara" (Music from La Pietà in Venice in the 18th century) and 2014 "The Farewells concerts" of Vivaldi (Concertos from the Conte Collalto Catalogue).
