First United Methodist Church (Lufkin, Texas)

First United Methodist Church of Lufkin is a United Methodist Church in Lufkin, Texas. It was founded in 1882 and is currently located at 805 East Denman Ave. The church has a membership of over 2,000 and is the largest church in the East District of the Texas Annual Conference. On October 21, 2007 the church celebrated its 125th anniversary with a homecoming service. Former pastors Dr. Jack Shoultz, Dr. Jack Shelton, and Dr. Keith Whitaker all spoke of their experiences while pastors at Lufkin.

The current Pastor is Reverend Jerome Brimmage, who has been pastor at the church since 2015. Former pastors include Dr. Rev. Keith Whitaker, Dr. Rev. Jack Shelton, Rev. Carol Turner and Rev. Nick Sholars.

The church has for many years run a summer program in which teenagers do mission work by fixing up the homes of people in need.[1][2]
