  1. 1 2 3 The RSSSF reports that Japan refused to play extra time on their match against China, with the later being awarded the gold medal.[1] However Japan Soccer Archives dispute this stating that Japan and China shared the title due to accumulating the same amount of points, and goal difference was not used as a tiebreaker at the Games.[2]
