Frederick Hutchings

Frederick Vaughan Hutchings (3 June 1880 – 6 August 1934) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket in four matches for Kent and for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), two in 1901 and two in 1905.[1][2] He was born at Southborough, Kent and died at Hamburg, Germany. Newspaper reports at the time of his marriage in 1907 indicate that he was known to contemporaries as "Vaughan Hutchings".[3]

Hutchings was educated at Tonbridge School where he played in the cricket team as a right-handed opening batsman.[1] Unlike his elder brother William, who played fairly regularly for a couple of seasons for Worcestershire, and his younger brother Kenneth, who played for Kent through their period of greatest success and also appeared for England, Frederick Hutchings was at most a part-time cricketer, and his four first-class games included no County Championship matches. His best first-class game was his first, for Kent against MCC in 1901, when he scored 31 in each innings.[4]
