Awards Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross

Fritz Axtmann (7 December 1914 – 13 September 1943) was a highly decorated Oberleutnant in the Wehrmacht during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Fritz Axtmann died 13 September 1943 in a field hospital in Kiev. He was posthumously promoted to Oberleutnant.
