Genalta Power

Genalta Power is an Independent Power Producer based in Calgary, Alberta. The company was founded in 2008 and specializes in Distributed Energy power plants between 2-50 megawatts. The company builds, owns, operates and maintains power plants that utilize wasted energy resources.[1]

The company has undergone several rounds of financing and its main equity holders are Enbridge and Kensington Capital.[2] Former Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach joined its Board of Directors in 2012.[3]

The company was the first company in Alberta to earn carbon credits by converting Flare gas to electricity.[4]
