Gregory Becker

Gregory Becker (born Gregory Hugh Becker, August 9, 1966, Norwood, Massachusetts) is a lyricist, composer, songwriter and producer^[1][2][3] living in Nashville, Tennessee.^{[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]}

Education and personal life

Gregory attended Newman Preparatory School on Marlboro Street in Boston. He studied neuroscience at the University Of Rochester and received a degree in Neuropsychology from the University of New Hampshire. Gregory is a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. Gregory currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and 3 children.^[11][12][13]

Professional career

Gregory accepted a position at M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington Massachusetts. While working at the laboratory he taught himself how to play guitar and speak German. He played at coffee houses and open mics around Boston for several years. He formed the band Duck and Cover with Roger Fisk and Johnny Snapps. Gregory played drums, guitar, sang lead and background vocals and wrote material for the band. Duck and Cover played Boston clubs such as the Rathskellar, Bunrattys, The Channel, The Middle East and T.T. the Bears.^[11][12]

In 1992, Gregory vacated his position at M.I.T. to attend Berklee College Of Music where he majored in songwriting and commercial arranging with piano as principle instrument. In 1995, Gregory relocated to Nashville, Tennessee.^{[11][12][13][14][15]}

His works have been recorded by notable recording artists including Carrie Underwood, Tim Mcgraw,^[16] Rascal Flatts, Brett Eldredge, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson, Leann Rimes, Chris Cagle, Emerson Drive, Meat Loaf, and Randy Bachman.^{[3][4][5][6][17][18]} His songs have also been featured in films such as Beethoven’s 5th, Country Strong, Flicka, and New In Town.^{[4][11][12][19][20]}

Gregory worked as a songplugger for Copperfield Music and Randy Scruggs Music. He has been a staff writer for CAA, Warner/Chappell Music, SonyATV, BMG, Almo Irving Music, Famous Music, and Southern Crossroads Music.^[11][12]
