Halat Um al-Baidh

Halat Um al-Baidh (Arabic: حالة أم البيض) is a town in the island of Sitra, Bahrain. The area was inhabited by 150 Sunni Arabs in 1905,[1] many of whom died in the late 1910s as a result of the smallpox epidemic which killed most of Sitra's native inhabitants (whom were predominantly Sunni).[2] Today it is inhabited by 100 people, most working in Tourist facilities located in the town. It is the only village on Sitra belonging to the Southern Governorate of Bahrain.
