Herbert Henry Gowen

Herbert Henry Gowen (1864–1960) was an Anglican missionary and Orientalist.[1] He wrote on the history of China and Japan. He worked at the University of Washington, where the current home of the department of Asian Languages and Cultures is named in his honor.
