The Iran Meteorological Organization (IRIMO), also referred to as the Met Department, is an agency of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of the Government of Iran. It is the principal agency responsible for meteorological observations, weather forecasting and seismology. IRIMO is headquartered in Tehran and operates hundreds of observation stations across Iran.

History

In 1298, The meteorological office was included in the Barzegaran school curriculum and French teachers taught it. In the Barzegaran school was built the first platform where meteorological, air temperature, relative humidity and rainfall were measured. this platform was complited in 1929 .After World War II,The first meteorological observatories were established in Iran by the Allies(1948).[1]
