Popstars: Ireland, or simply Popstars by RTÉ, was an Irish talent show that aired from November 25, 2001 until February 17, 2002 on RTÉ One. It featured Louis Walsh, Bill Hughes and Linda Martin as the judges.[1] The series was won by Six.[2]
Summary
The first and only season of Popstars: Ireland was broadcast during 2001. It was won by Six.[2] It also featured Nadine Coyle who was disqualified after it being reported that she was under the age requirement of 18.[3]
Judges
Irish manager, Louis Walsh; Irish record producer, Bill Hughes; and singer, Linda Martin; were featured as the three judges on the judging panel.
Reception
After the conclusion of the first season, it was announced that Popstars: Ireland would not be returning for a second series in 2002.
Aftermath
Walsh later became a judge on the British talent show, The X Factor, in 2004; and Waterman was also a judge on Pop Idol, the show which was replaced with The X Factor; and Martin became a judge on You're a Star in 2002.
