JUCE TV[1] is a youth-oriented Christian television network owned and operated by the Trinity Broadcasting Network. The network is aimed at teenagers and young adults between the ages of 13 and 30 years, and features music videos (similar to MTV, but with a Christian focus), Christian-themed entertainment and lifestyle programming, and some church services.

JUCE TV is carried over-the-air on digital subchannels of TBN owned-and-operated and affiliated stations nationwide, usually on the third subchannel (for example, if the local TBN station broadcasts on channel 17, then JUCE TV would be carried on digital subchannel 17.3). Since June 1, 2015, the network has shared subchannel space with sister network Smile of a Child TV over-the-air; however, JUCE TV continues to operate as a separate 24-hour channel on pay television providers as well as on select digital streaming platforms that offer TBN's six U.S. networks.[2]

The network is also currently available through various cable providers nationwide as well as across North and Central America on Glorystar through the Ku band Galaxy 19 satellite and on C-Band Galaxy 14 satellite. The network is also live-streamed on its and TBN's official website as well as on the TBN Mobile App for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. JUCE TV and other TBN-owned networks are broadcast internationally free-to-air via satellites such as ABS1 to India and Middle East on Ku band, Intelsat 701 and DTH to Australia and New Zealand on Optus B3 and also to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East via Eutelsat (Hotbird 13°E) and Agila 2 satellite (both C-band and Ku band signal) in Asia and the Philippines. Some JCTV programming can also be seen on Grace TV in Canada and on Trinity Broadcasting Network Europe.

Overview

JUCE TV was launched in 2002 by TBN founder Paul Crouch Sr. under the name JCTV with the vision of airing exclusive programs, new shows, and specials targeted at Christian youth throughout the world. Based at TBN's headquarters in Santa Ana, California, JUCE TV airs its programming worldwide, covering parts of North America, Europe, Asia, and South America. The network relaunched as JUCE TV on January 1, 2014, with a new on-air logo and additional programming.[3]

Former logo as JCTV, used from 2002 to December 31, 2013.

On June 1, 2015, JUCE TV was combined into a single subchannel with sister network Smile of a Child TV (which targets a younger audience, children between the ages of 2 and 12). Under this arrangement, the latter network began occupying nine hours of programming daily (from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. local time) over the third digital subchannel occupied by JUCE on the 38 stations TBN either owns directly or through its Community Educational Television subsidiary. One week later on June 8, TBN modified the timeshare arrangement, giving Smile of a Child and JUCE each a daily 12-hour window on the .3 subchannel, with JUCE now airing over the space from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. in each time zone and Smile of a Child airing for the remainder of the day.[4]

The change – which is the result of technical limitations with its stations' existing digital compression equipment – is a byproduct of the launch of TBN Salsa, a digital subchannel network targeting English-speaking Hispanics which launched on that date. JUCE TV continues to maintain a 24-hour-day schedule, however, with all programming not shown over-the-air during Smile's programming hours over the subchannel space remaining available via live stream online through TBN's website and various mobile and digital media players.[2]

Programming

JUCE TV combines music videos, video jockeys, promotion of special Christian rock events, and news and documentaries about Christian bands and performers in an effort to establish popularity among Christian youth. The network also broadcasts some extreme sports programs that document extreme sports athletes and how their faith impacts their lives. In addition to music-based and action sports programming, JUCE TV also airs other programming such as the discussion program Ask God, the game show Virtual Memory with Jamie Alexander, the ministry program "Encounter TV" with David Diga Hernandez and the religious sitcom Peculiar. It also airs movies with religious and/or inspirational themes, typically on Friday and Sunday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. JUCE TV airs "sneak preview" blocks of its programming on TBN on Friday and Saturday late nights.[5]

Since February 2013, JCTV (then known as JUCE TV) also runs a week-long, semi-annual fundraising event called "Project JCTV"; the event features a mix of entertainment and religious-based programs regularly seen on JUCE TV's schedule (some organized by program genre in the form of theme days), movies as well as a live three-hour telethon-style program that airs in both during the afternoon and in primetime each day during the "Project JCTV" event (telecasts of regular programming during the event, including movies, are occasionally interrupted by interstitial segments to encourage viewers to make monetary pledges).
