Jacob Larsson (born April 29, 1997) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenseman. He is currently playing with Frölunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) on loan from the Anaheim Ducks. He was selected 27th overall by the Ducks in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

A native of Ljungby, Larsson left his hometown club IF Troja-Ljungby in 2013 to join the youth ranks of Frölunda HC. He made his Swedish Hockey League (SHL) debut with Frölunda during the 2014–15 SHL season. He was seen as one of the top ten international skaters for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft according to the NHL Central Scouting Bureau before he was selected by the Anaheim Ducks.[1]

On February 14, 2015, Larsson was signed to a two-year contract extension to remain with Frölunda.[2] He made 47 appearances for the team in the 2015–16 SHL regular season, scoring five goals and assisting on nine more. Larsson also played in 16 playoffs contests, tallying three points as Frölunda romped to the SHL title.[3] In the teams’ Champions Hockey League title run, he chipped in with three goals and dealt out two assists in 13 games played.[4]

At the conclusion of the 2015–16 season, Larsson signed an amateur try-out contract with the Anaheim Ducks' American Hockey League affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, on April 28, 2016.[5] On May 20, 2016, he was given a three-year entry-level contract by the Ducks.[6] Larsson made his NHL debut on October 13, 2016 against the Dallas Stars.[7] On November 2, 2016, he returned to Frölunda HC on loan, joining the team for the remainder of the season.[8]
