James Cotter (born 27 February 1990) is an English actor. He has had uncredited appearances in some feature films and has appeared in several independent films and shorts. His theatre work in south west England includes comedy roles such as Mr. Toad.

Personal life

Cotter was born on 27 February 1990, in Exeter, Devon where, as of 2016, he still lives. He was educated at St James School, Exeter between 2002 and 2006 before going on to study at Exeter College, Exeter. He is an alumnus of The University of Plymouth, where he studied TV Production.

Career

Cotter's professional acting debut was as Mr. Barton in Bill Kenwright's tour of Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution at The Princess Theatre, Torquay in 2010.[1]

Cotter's theatrical roles include playing Mr. Toad in Transitions Theatre Company's touring summer production of The Adventures of Mr. Toad in 2013.[2] He also had a minor role in a production of Acorn Antiques: The Musical! at Exeter's Barnfield Theatre.[3] In late 2015 Cotter played Sir Richard Thomas Dyke Acland, 15th Baronet and MP who was one of the founding members of the British Common Wealth Party in a stage production of "The Gift" at his former home, Killerton.[4]

He had uncredited roles in feature films such as The Sweeney,[5] and The Wedding Video,[6] in 2012 and World War Z in 2013.[7] He has also taken roles in independent films and shorts such as "They're Coming" that was filmed around Torbay in 2012,[8] Candylad Productions' "All in the Valley",[9] "A Dark Tale",[10][11] and "The Runner".[12][13] He also appeared in Kennedy's Suicide Bomber[14] a Smithsonian Channel and BBC co-production,[15] and Mermaids: The New Evidence,[16] for the Discovery Channel.[17]

In 2015 Cotter directed his first short film "Delays Imminent". The seven-minute film was shot in Exeter.[18][19] Cotter has been given a part in the forthcoming film Rowena Ghoul from Devon-based company Emberlense.[20]
