Jennifer Fielder is a Republican serving in the Montana Senate, first elected in 2012. Based in Thompson Falls, she represents several counties in northwest Montana, including Sanders, Mineral, and western Missoula.

Committees

Fielder has served on the Environmental Quality Council and Water Policy committees in an interim fashion.[1]

Legislative work

Fielder has advocated the transfer of federal public lands to state governments.[2] While some organizations see the transfer as paving the way for a sell off of public lands, Fielder says it is simply intended to provide better public access.[3]

Financial backers

Fielder has accepted donations from Farris Wilks, one of the founders of Frac Tech Services,[4] and Staci Wilks, an administrator at the same hydraulic fracking company.[5][6] The oil and gas industry is among the top sources of contributions to her campaign, according to Follow the Money. Note: Montana law states that in a general election, the maximum contribution a candidate can receive is $160 from any individual. The Wilks gave individual donations to 42% of the candidates for the Montana legislature in the 2012 election. A right any individual has, whether on one side of an issue or another.[7]

Career

Fielder is a former ski instructor and consultant, according to her website.[8]
