John Lewis (educator)

Dr. John Lewis is an American professor of computer science, formerly of Villanova University and NYIT.[1] He is best known as the author of Java Software Solutions, an introductory text on Java programming.

Biography

Dr. Lewis currently resides in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Popularly, he is known for his Twitter account handle '@johnlewis';[2] to which hundreds of users from across the world mistakenly send tweets intended for the British department store John Lewis.[3] Often redirecting the tweets back to the store's official account with wit and humour, the result of which has gained him gained an independent cult following; in 2014 the retail giant sent Lewis a gift set as an acknowledgment and a thank you from the store for the inconvenience caused to him.[4]
