Jordan Richards (born 15 June 1993) is an English footballer who plays either as a defender or as a midfielder for Hartlepool United.

Career

Richards was born in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. He started his career in the youth team of Hartlepool United on a two-year scholarship. In the summer of 2011 he signed his first professional contract.[3] He made his professional debut on 20 March 2012, in a 1–0 defeat to Oldham Athletic, replacing Paul Murray as a late substitute. A month later, he was handed his first start playing the full 90 minutes against Tranmere Rovers in a 1-1 draw.

Jordan was praised by manager John Hughes after his run in the first-team,[4] but was then dealt with the blow of being ruled out for the rest of the 2012-13 season after a knee injury.[5]

On 7 May 2014, Richards extended his contract with the Pools.[6]

Personal life

He is the nephew of ex-Sunderland and Blackburn player Michael Gray.
