Josef Julius Wecksell
J J Wecksell
Josef Julius Wecksell (19 March 1838 Turku - 9 August 1907 Helsinki) was a Finnish poet and playwright. He studied at the University of Helsinki.[1] He was committed to the Endenich asylum, and then Lappvik asylum, from 1865 until his death.[2]
His poems were set to music by Sibelius.[3][4]
In 1969, a statue of him was erected at the entrance to Åbo Akademi University.[5]
