Lee Buencamino (birth name as Julia Louise Centenera Buencamino, December 5, 1999 – July 7, 2015)[1] was a Filipino artist who was most known for their role as Amelia "Aimee" Chua in the 2015 Philippine TV series Oh My G!.
On July 7, 2015, Lee was found dead in their bathroom in Quezon City at the age of 15.[1][2]
Personal life
Lee Buencamino was the youngest child among four children of actors Nonie Buencamino and Shamaine Centenera-Buencamino.[3]
Career
Their film career began with a small role in the 2005 film Sandalang Bahay. The next year, they gained a supporting role in the film Inang Yaya. It was not until many years later that they received another role, for Oh My G! at ABS-CBN in 2015.[4]
Death
Buencamino was found hanging from a nylon rope in their bathroom by their family's household help at around 8:20 pm on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Their brother, Gregorio, rushed them to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City. At 8:46 pm, they were declared dead on arrival.[1][2] Buencamino's father insisted that the police halt their investigations towards their death, as he was convinced that the cause of death was suicide.[2] Their remains were transferred to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine at New Manila, Quezon City.[5] On their suicide note, posted on Tumblr a few days later, Buencamino revealed that they were a panromantic demisexual at the time of their death and had selected Lee as their gender-neutral name as they also identified as gender-neutral.[6][7]
