K. K. Aggarwal is an Indian cardiologist and the president of the Heart Care Foundation of India, a nongovernmental organization.[1] The Government of India honored him, in 2010, with the award of Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the field of medicine.[2]

Biography

Aggarwal graduated in medicine from Nagpur University in 1979[3] and obtained an MD from the same university in 1983.[4] He is the senior consultant at Moolchand Medcity, New Delhi, India.[5]

Aggarwal has published 16 books on health, 6 textbook chapters on echocardiography and several articles in national and international medical journals.[3][4] One of the pioneers of streptokinase therapy for cardiological purposes in India,[4] Agarwal has been honored with the B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian award in the medical category, in 2005.[3][4][6] He is also a recipient of the Dr. D. S. Mungekar National IMA Award in 1991,[6] the Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award in 1993,[6] and the Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award in 2003.[3][4][6] In 2010, he was included in the Padma Shri.[2]

Aggarwal is secretary of the Indian Medical Association[7] and the chairman and chief editor of IJCP group of Publications.[8]
