Kevin Xu is a biotech entrepreneur, philanthropist,[1] writer and a recipient of the California State Los Angeles’ Presidential Medallion.[2]

Early life

Kevin Xu was born in 1988 in Jinan, Shandong Province in China. Kevin attended the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a Bachelor's in Neuroscience in 2010.[3] Kevin has stated several times that his father is one of his greatest influences, and he hopes to extend his father’s legacy after his passing in 2015.[4]

Career

After graduating the University of Southern California Kevin joined his father’s (Dr Xu) cellular regeneration research company, MEBO. Kevin's role was to promote MEBO's work in the reduction of pain, during the recovering from severe burns, as well as the restoration of skin cells and the repair of both structure and function of lost tissue.[5]

Kevin built upon his father's work and created MEBO international a research and management company working towards human body restorative science, Kevin also created the MEBO campus, a virtual education platform to study organ regeneration and growth.[6] In 2015 Kevin became the CEO of MEBO and is currently the CEO of skingenix a research and development company focused on drug development for organ regeneration.[6]

Kevin promotion of this alternative therapy to burns has led him to be a sought after source for major publications including; Entrepreneur Magazine,[7] Forbes,[8] Wired and Business Insider. It has earned him wide recognition within both the scientific and medical community,[6] including membership on the Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Advisory Board and[9] an honorary guest at president Obama final state dinner.[10][11]

Philanthropy

Xu is the founder of the National Rongxiang Xu Foundation which seeks to promote "human body regression and research practice". In 2014, Xu, along with his wife, Leah Yang, established the $20,000 Brighten Award for Entrepreneurial Gerontology at the USC Davis School of Gerontology. The couple named the award after their son, and give it each year to students who show an exceptional interest in what Xu calls “the huge potential market” related to the elderly and the science of aging.[1][12]

Presidential Medallion

Kevin Xu is the recipient of the Presidential Medallion bestowed upon him for "outstanding leadership and extraordinary service to the students and faculty of Cal State LA", Xu is one of only ten people to have received California State Los Angeles’ Presidential Medallion since the award’s inception in 1983 [5]
