Khashayar Farzam (also known by Khash) is a Persian-Canadian powerlifter,[1] entrepreneur, former track and field athlete and e-book author.[2] He is the co-founder of the skin care brand Prosmetica,[3] executive of COMSA, brand ambassador for Noowave [4] and currently attends medical school at The University of New England.[5]

Biography

Khashayar was born in Tehran, Iran in 1993 and his parents immigrated to Toronto, Canada when he was 6 years old. He grew up in Ajax, Ontario and attended Pickering High School while being a member of the Durham Dragons track and field club. His track and field career began at age 11 and ended at age 18 after suffering from a serious lower back injury. During his tenure he won over 100 medals and awards as a sprinter and competed at the national level. Khashayar attended the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Honors Degree.[6] From 2011 to 2013 he was a recreation therapist at Lakeridge Health Whitby Hospital. He was admitted to medical school at the University of New England in the United States and began studying there during August, 2015.[7] Subsequently he was given an executive position at COMSA and became a member of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Powerlifting

After spending close to 2 years recovering from his back injury, Khashayar took up powerlifting and won his first competition in November, 2013 which was a push-pull competition. His first full competition that year got him the top male bench press award [8] and he went on to do various competitions over the next year. At the 2014 Global Bench Wars in Detroit, he won the title of top junior bencher and he set a World Powerlifting Congress federation world record during the CPF nationals competition in 2014 at Nova Scotia.[9] He competed in his first IPF powerlifting competition in June, 2014 where he won the top male lifter award at the Toronto Pro Supershow. Subsequently he was admitted onto the Hylete Compete Team. In 2015 he represented Canada at the IPF World Powerlifting Championships in Finland and won a silver medal in the bench press.[10]

Business

During 2014 Khashayar operated a dropshipping business online. After competing in several powerlifting meets, he began New Power Athlete – an online coaching business which he operated for over a year[11] which was an extension of his work as a personal trainer.[12] During his first year of medical school he ran a freelance business doing social media consultation work for small businesses. In 2016 he co-founded Prosmetica – a skin care brand aimed at unifying science and natural ingredients. Later in 2016 he became the brand ambassador for the supplement company: Noowave.
