Kim Min-Kyun (Hangul: 김민균; born 30 November 1988) is a South Korean association footballer who plays as midfielder for FC Anyang in the K League Challenge. He is known for his sharp passing, vision and movement that help him create chances for his forwards and for himself.[1]

Club career

Daegu FC

Kim Min-kyun was drafted from Myongji University to Daegu FC in 2009. He made his Daegu FC first-team debut on 8 March 2009 in a match against Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, and rapidly established himself as one of the first choice midfielders in the squad. Kim scored his first goal against Gangwon FC on 16 May 2009, a match which Daegu drew 2–2. During the 2010 season, Kim was used mainly as a substitute player, making 8 out of his 10 appearances[2] in the K-League from the bench. Kim left Daegu FC after reaching an agreement with the club for a mutual termination of his contract in March 2011.

Fagiano Okayama

On 20 April 2011 he joined Fagiano Okayama.[3] During his time at Fagiano Okayama, Kim became an ever-present member of the starting eleven as an attacking midfielder. Kim played in 73 out of 79 league games during his time at Fagiano Okayama and featured in the starting eleven on 66 of those games. Kim scored his first league goal for Fagiano Okayama in a 2-1 loss against Consadole Sapporo on 29 May 2011.

Jagiellonia Białystok

On 28 January 2013 he joined Jagiellonia Białystok on a two-and-a-half year contract. Kim had previously been training with Jagiellonia Białystok at their training camp in Lithuania and had featured in 3 of their off-season games in Lithuania.[4] Kim failed to secure himself as a first team regular during his time in Poland, featuring in 5 league games without playing the full 90 minutes in any of those games. Additionally Kim also played 4 games in the Młoda Ekstraklasa, the U-21 League for youth players in the Ekstraklasa, and scored a goal in Jagiellonia Białystok's U-21 2-2 draw against Korona Kielce on 22 May 2013.[5] On 15 July 2013 Kim left Jagiellonia Białystok after reaching an agreement with the club for a mutual termination of his contract, citing his hardship in acclimatizing to the team as the main reason for leaving the club.[6]

Fagiano Okayama

On 31 July 2013, Kim joined Fagiano Okayama again.[7] After a few substitute appearances, Kim once again became a starting regular in midfield, where he was present in the starting eleven for all 8 league matches from 15 September 2013 to 10 November 2013. He scored his first goal since coming back in a 3-1 loss against Tochigi SC on 25 August 2013.

Ulsan Hyundai

On 10 January 2014 Kim joined Ulsan Hyundai on a three-year contract.[8] He scored his first goal in a 2-2 draw against Suwon Samsung Bluewings on 19 April 2014. He scored the winning goal with an amazing scissor kick in the 2-1 win over Gyeongnam FC on 7 September 2014 (24th round of the K-League Classic). He was selected for the K-League Classic 2014 24th Round Weekly Best after his performance and goal against Gyeongnam.[9]

FC Anyang

Kim joined FC Anyang on loan for the 2016 K League Challenge season. He had a fairly successful season, establishing himself as a key member of the first team. His 11 goals throughout the season ranked him 11th in the goal scoring chart of the division and he also provided 4 assists. His goal-scoring performance against Chungju on the 13th of June in the 17th round of the league saw him get elected as the Most Valuable Player of that round. He would again be selected as the Most Valuable Player of the round when in the 22nd round of the league, he scored the only goal against Ansan Mugunghwa to give FC Anyang the win. Kim provided valuable goals for Anyang and amongst his 11 goals, Kim scored the winner against Ansan Mugunghwa in round 22, the equalising goal against Daegu FC in round 24 and the winner against Daejeon Citizen FC in round 25.

International career

Kim was a squad member of the South Korea U-20 team which participated in the AFC U-19 Championship 2006.
