Lares Ice Cream Parlor

Heladería de Lares

The Lares Ice Cream Parlor (or Heladería de Lares, in Spanish) was an ice cream store located in the town of Lares, Puerto Rico.

The ice cream store was founded in 1968 by Salvador Barreto (known as "Yinyo")[1] and has an array of over 200 flavors.[2] The flavors range from traditional ones (vanilla, chocolate) to exotic ones (rum, meat, chicken, rice & beans, codfish, beer, sweet potato, shrimp, corn, garlic, ginger). The store's top-selling flavors were at one time rice pudding and corn.[3]

The ice cream store is located in front of the town square of Lares at 18.294965N, 66.877387W. It closed at the end of February 2014, due to the death of its founder. It is possible that it may reopen in the future.[4]
