Leicester Regeneration Company
The Leicester Regeneration Company (LRC) was a not-for-profit Urban Regeneration Company, funded by Leicester City Council (LCC), East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) and English Partnerships (EP). These groups were represented on the Board, which is private sector led and had a private/voluntary sector majority. The role of the LRC was to lead and facilitate the Regeneration of the city of Leicester by masterplanning, structuring joint ventures, reducing the risk profile and arranging finance for commercial, mixed use and residential development. The company was set up in April 2001 with an eight-year projected life span, and became operational in 2002, in response to the Government’s Urban White Paper. It was one of 22 Urban Regeneration Companies in the UK.
£800m of investment was injected into the City centre. Voted Regeneration Company of the Year 2009 by Regen & Renewal magazine.
