The Life Guard Dragoons (Swedish: Livgardets dragoner), designated K 1, were a cavalry regiment of the Swedish Army active from 1949 to 2000. They were formed as a squadron called the Livgardesskvadronen in 1949, as a replacement for the previous K 1, the Livregementet till häst (1928–1948). In 1975 the squadron were made into a regiment, titled the Livgardets dragoner med Stockholms försvarsområde (K 1/Fo 44) ("Life Guard Dragoons and Stockholm Defense Area"), redesignated the Livgardets dragoner in 1984. The regiment had ceremonial mounted cavalry duties, as well as training recruits and providing part of the garrison in Stockholm. In 2000, the regiment was amalgamated into the Life Guards, which combines the infantry and cavalry guard units of the Swedish Army.
