Lifelines (Arild Andersen album)

Lifelines (released 1981 in Germany) is the fourth album by Norwegian jazz bassist and composer Arild Andersen, recorded July 1980 at Talent Studio, Oslo, and released on the ECM label (ECM 1188).^[1]

Review

Andersen gives us an explosive introduction on this album, and kicks us like a football on the field with «Cameron». When the album rolls on we are carried away by Steve Dobrogosz’s lyrical piano, and when Kenny Wheeler puts on his dreamy flugelhorn, we are carrued away on the drum rolls of Paul Motian. Andersen keeps us centered on this album, resting on a fine edge of airtight cohesion and loosened seams. Lifelines is drawn together into a grand finale with Radka Toneff 's delightful «Anew».
