Plot

"Like a Country Song" is a story about JAKE REESON, an up-and-coming country singer who has the whole world in his hands until his ego gets in the way. With nothing but partying and music on his mind, Jake is forced to take a hard look at himself and the ashes around him after life and his singing career slowly falls apart. Jake’s old flame, BECCA, suddenly reappears back in his life after seeing her again at a local music show. Good girl Becca, never forgetting who Jake is, makes him work for it only to fall for him again. His mother, MIA, harbors a painful secret… the father Jake thought was dead is alive. To protect Jake from the pain of knowing what his father, BO, had become after a horrible accident, Mia thought it best if Jake believed BO was dead. Jake eventually has a “random” encounter with BO on the street in a Nashville suburb that sets off a chain of events to bring Bo back into his life and hopefully reconciliation to the family.

“Like a Country Song” is a story about Humility, Forgiveness, and Redemption in the presence of Pain and Burden.

“MATTHEW 11:28” Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.[12]

Reception

ChristianReview.com rated the film at 4 out of 5 stars stating: "Like A County Song is a great movie. It looks good thanks to some good lighting, camerawork, and post production color correcting, making this a movie that would play well on both at the theater and on a TV screen."[13]

The Dove Foundation said "This movie clearly illustrates the realities of life but also the hope one has in following God." [14]

Christian Cinema also gave the film 4 stars out of 5[15] stating "Make no mistake, this is a story about healing, forgiveness and redemption..."[16]

Ted Baehr of Movieguide® rated the film with three stars out of four saying "LIKE A COUNTRY SONG has many positive, faith affirming moments. It shows the freedom that forgiveness gives, not just in forgiving others of their mistakes, but accepting Christ’s forgiveness of our mistakes. A beautiful portrayal of the Gospel, repentance and reconciliation are properly displayed. Light caution is still advised for LIKE A COUNTRY SONG, due to some minor violence and heavy drinking."[17]

IMDb rated the film at 6.7/10 from 60 users[18] and Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an Average Rating of 3.6/5.[19]
