Lina Lecaro is an American radio host, DJ, author and journalist.[1] She is best known for her radio shows Lina in LA on Moheak and Hot Licks with Lina on Luxuria Music.[2]

Early life

Lecaro was born and raised in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake, where she attended John Marshall High School. She then studied at LACC for two years before transferring to California State University, Northridge, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.[3]

Career

Radio hosting and broadcasting

Lecaro began hosting the show Lina in LA on Moheak when Indie 103.1's Todd William offered her a show.[4] She has also made guest appearances on The Michael Des Barres Show,[5] on Los Angeles Nista for Skidrow Studios,[6] and later on Sirius Radio during Coachella 2015.

In 2016, Lecaro began hosting her own radio show Hot Licks with Lina at Luxuria Music in Los Angeles.[7][8]

DJ

Lecaro has performed as the DJ for the Feminist as F@/#^! Dance Party! with Amy Poehler and Amber Tamblyn at The Regent Theatre,[9] for the Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Celebration,[10] for Goldenvoice presents: Dave Stewart with Lucha VaVOOM at the El Rey Theatre,[11] for Life is Beautiful at Los Globos,[12] for Electric Glitter at the Dragonfly in Hollywood,[13] for The Hangmen and Blackfeather Jane at Loaded,[14] and for the Starcrawlers Summer Residency at Los Globos.[15]

Journalism and writing

Lecaro is the published author of Los Angeles Best Dive Bars: Drinking and Diving in the City of Angels[16][17][18] and co-author of the book Never Mind the Rules: How to Rock at Love, in collaboration with Susan Hyatt.[19]

She is also a contributing writer at Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly and Paper Magazine.[20]

Lecaro has appeared in the documentary Betty Blowtorch: And Her Amazing True Life Adventures as herself for the Los Angeles Times[21] and was interviewed for the documentary LA Women[22] which profiled pioneering, innovative and compelling Los Angeles-based female artists, philosophers and social entrepreneurs in their own words and contexts.[23]

Awards and nominations

In November 2014, Lecaro was nominated for a WOWie Award for her online publications.[24]
