List of HolbyBlue episodes

HolbyBlue is a British police procedural television series that aired between 8 May 2007 and 5 June 2008 on BBC One. The programme was created by Tony Jordan as a spin-off from the established BBC medical drama Holby City,[1] which in turn is a spin-off from the medical drama Casualty.[2] All three programmes are set in the fictional city of Holby. HolbyBlue follows the professional and personal lives of police staff at Holby South police station. The show ran for two series, the first of which was eight episodes long. The second series was twelve episodes long, and began with a Holby City crossover episode.[3] In August 2008, it was announced that the show had been axed by the BBC and would not be returning for a third series.[4] The first series aired on Tuesday nights at 8 pm, in the regular Holby City timeslot. Holby City was moved to Thursdays for the duration of HolbyBlue's run.[5] The show moved to Thursday nights for the second season.

Upon learning his estranged wife Kate is seeing a new man, John has a night of passion with Rachel from the CPS.

Kate is offered a reception job at the station, but just as she and John seem to be moving towards reconciliation, Rachel reveals the details of her tryst with John. Meanwhile, the team investigate the case of a young girl thrown out of the third floor window of a known brothel, and John is pleased when the trail leads back to his arch nemisis, drugs baron Stenga, whom he has been pursuing for several months, but when an old friend of Billy's turns out be Stenga's girlfriend, Billy gets personally imvolved.

Luke and Mandy's second attempt at IVF fails, and Luke experiences split loyalties between Mandy and his mother. Kelly considers keeping a sizable sum of money she finds on a raid of stolen goods, but her conscience gets the better of her and she returns it. Lucy and Mac are held hostage in the station by a man convicted of manslaughter but later released, resulting in Lucy being stabbed, while John discovers there is a mole on his team revealing information to Stenga, unaware that it is Harry.

Stenga extracts more information from Harry, leading to the murder of Steven Price, the thug who ran-over Stenga's girlfriend Louise. John is forced to question Billy's loyalties, after spotting Billy with Louise and her brother, Michael, who had previously targeted price following the attack on Louise. Meanwhile, Robert finds himself in an uncomfortable situation when Neil and Kelly arrest a small-time burglar, whose sister turns out to be one of Robert's old flames - and that he's a daddy.

John confides in Harry that he believes Billy to be the mole, which results in serious consequences for Billy. Kate continues to be antagonised by Rachel. Meanwhile, Neil and Kelly investigate the case of a tramp who has been set on fire, leading them to his money-hungry wife.

Lucy and Robert manage to prove Billy's innocence, but this is not enough to deter him from quitting the force. Later, Robert reveals that Lucy's new boyfriend Sean Proctor is an infamous drug dealer, and forces her to end their relationship, before himself becoming involved with a woman suspected of carrying out a racist attack on her Asian friend. Meanwhile, Neil is offered a promotion, and Luke makes up with Mandy and agrees to put his mother in a home, and Micheal Martin is finally located.

Luke is devastated when his mother dies following a tough battle with terminal illness, and looks to find comfort in the arms of Mandy. Billy returns to work following the internal investigation. Meanwhile, Rachel provokes Kate into hitting her, after deliberately stealing a letter from Jenny's mailbox, however John persuades Jenny to give her another chance when she hands in her resignation. John also finally discovers that Harry is the mole after catching him leaving Stenga's warehouse.

John confronts Harry about being the mole, and is then offered a file of information on Stenga in return for his freedom. Realising he has been betrayed, Stenga holds Kate and the children hostage. John and Luke come to their rescue but are both shot in the process. Stenga is also shot and dies, while they recover. Harry is arrested at his own retirement party, and Luke is delighted to learn that Mandy is pregnant. Rachel receives a knock back from John after he requests Kate's presence at the hospital.

Elsewhere, Kate enjoys the attention of a handsome new stranger - John's new boss, DCI Scott Vaughan, Neil finds himself at a loose end with Kelly away on a training course, and Rachel and Christian come to blows.

When a batch of contaminated drugs kills three students, John and Luke are forced into action in a bid to get the stash off the streets. The drugs, sold in phials with distinctive red caps, leave the team is on high alert to find the remainder of the batch before it claims any more victims - until Lucy and Robert stumple upon the dead body of Sam Phillips, a 26-year-old mother of one who appears to have been partly responsible for dealing the drugs. Meanwhile, Billy and Neil attempt to catch an online dating thief.

Kelly returns from a training course to find not much has changed in the precinct. Gang warfare has broken out on the estates, following the stabbing of a known offender who was released from a youth offenders institution just two weeks ago. Meanwhile, Robert and Lucy catch Vinnie Dwyer attempting to burgle a surbaban house, Lucy uses the charge as a bargaining tool to arrange contact between Robert and his son, Kyle.

Lucy struggles to cope following Robert's death, and determined not to let another of her colleagues die, goes all out to catch a teenage joyrider seen escaping from a stolen vehicle. Meanwhile, John and Luke investigate the case of a young Indian student attacked on the way home from work, while Neil and Kelly tackle a difficult domestic dispute between a man and his ex-girlfriend, Kate attempts to track down the owner of a handbag found in lost property, and Jenny persuades Christian to stay in the job.

Following the vicious attack on youth worker Sean Burrows by his own son, Lee, John becomes determined to gather the evidence to prove that Lee was acting in self-defence following years of violent abuse. Meanwhile, Mac visits Lucy and persuades her to return to the job, and Neil inadvertently reveals his true feelings to Kelly.

Meanwhile, Billy's estranged mother is brought into custody, and Kelly is forced to tell Neil that nothing will ever happen between them.

Determined to nail Holby’s most wanted pimp and drug dealer, Toby Wilson, Scott calls for a raid on a brothel, where CID suspect he’s also making his young prostitutes sell drugs. Elsewhere, intrigued to find out why Jake is being so touchy about his transfer to Holby, Lucy does some detective work of her own, and finally solves the mystery surrounding the newest member of their shift - he was formerly a sergeant. Christian is surprised when Jenny offers him the role of acting inspector while she is on maternity leave.

It’s Christian’s first day as acting inspector, and he is quick to reassure the troops that the power won’t go to his head - and that he’s still the ‘Sarg’ they all know and love. John and Luke investigate a vicious attack on a local drug dealer, who according to records, was responsible for grassing on a fellow dealer just two days earlier. Meanwhile, Neil, Billy and Kelly investigate a series of flat burglaries on the Windmill estate, which turn out to be the work of a very unsuspecting member of the public.

Lucy and Jake arrive at the scene of a robbery at Cash Connections, only to the find the branch manager lying unconscious after being shot, and his colleague, Stella, cowering in the corner. John and Luke are quick to conclude it’s an inside job after reviewing the CCTV, but the task becomes to figure out which member of staff was involved, and which violent criminal they’re associated with. Meanwhile, Christian's relationship with Miranda blossoms, and an unexpected incident at the roadside becomes tragedy for Luke.

After Mandy’s sudden death, Luke, supported by John and Kate, returns to the station following her emotional funeral. His first case involves the violent assault on a number of local prostitutes. Forced to confront his demons once again, John rages when he arrives home to find his father in his living room. Meanwhile, Lucy and Jake investigate the blackmail of a local shop owner and her husband.

The officers of Holby South find themselves in the line of fire when a number of hoax 999 calls lure them to destinations where a lone sniper lies in wait. But back at the station, the team are slowly piecing together the evidence, and the identity of the gunman is soon revealed. However, Jake and Lucy have already responded to a call-out - and they head straight into the gunman’s lair. Meanwhile, Kelly finally gives in to her true feelings and kisses Neil, and John sets out to finish his father once and for all.
