The Great Tomb of Nazarick

Ainz Ooal Gown (アインズ・ウール・ゴウン Ainzu Ūru Goun) / Momonga (モモンガ)
Voiced by: Satoshi Hino (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Chris Guerrero (English)
The protagonist/main character and the only remaining member of the Guild of Ainz Ooal Gown. Originally he was a simple salaryman playing a VR online game, but after he was transported to the New World, he decides to make himself a legend in hopes of finding his old guildmates. To facilitate his search, he changes his name from Momonga to Ainz Ooal Gown. As he has the form of a lich, he doesn't need to eat or sleep, can't be poisoned or killed by conventional means, but also suppresses his emotions and empathy. Because of his formerly high level in Yggdrasil, he can easily overpower even the strongest of magic casters in the new world and while he lacks the skills of natural warriors, he compensates for it with raw strength. He also has an array of items he purchased with real money back in Yggdrasil, which give him abilities ranging from summoning extremely high level items to instantly casting a spell that usually has a long casting time. When Ainz travels as an adventurer, he uses the alias "Momon" which later becomes "Momon the Dark Hero". In the CD drama #2, his real name is revealed to be Satoru Suzuki.

Floor Guardians

They are NPC's created by the 41 members of Ainz Ooal Gown, and are the most powerful beings in Nazarick, some even exceeding Ainz. However, despite this, due to their previous code, they are completely loyal to Ainz and Nazarick, and view any sign of treachery as unforgivable. While for the most part, they are mostly good natured, they view anyone outside of Nazarick as lower-life forms, and those brought into Nazarick as only slightly better.

Albedo (アルベド Arubedo)
Voiced by: Yumi Hara (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Elizabeth Maxwell (English)
The overseer of the Floor Guardians and one of the most powerful NPCs in Nazarick. She takes the form of a beautiful woman with fallen angel wings and horns. Because Ainz modified her settings on a whim, she ends up madly in love with him. Albedo's romantic obsessions are so strong that if Ainz were to even glance at her body, she would immediately become excited. Albedo's obsession with Ainz has led him to greatly regret his actions. While she tries to act calm, as befitting of her role, any perceived insult against Ainz or Nazarick, real or imagined, sends her into a rage. Like most inhabitants of Nazarick, she despises humans which she refers to as "lower lifeforms". It is revealed that she actually desires that Ainz take back his original name of Momonga, as she actually hates the other Supreme Beings and the name of Ainz Ooal Gown symbolises all of them.
Shalltear Bloodfallen (シャルティア・ブラッドフォールン Sharutia Buraddofōren)
Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Felecia Angelle (English)
The Guardian of the First, Second, and Third floors of Nazarick, she has the form of a beautiful vampire girl. She's also in love with Momonga which puts her at odds with Albedo. While the two don't mind sharing Momonga, they still fight for superiority and who would ultimately appeal to Momonga the most. Shalltear is the most powerful floor guardian in overall battle strength as she was optimized for both melee and magical fighting. Due to an incident where she is subjected to mind control by a member of the Black Scripture, she ends up unintentionally rebelling against Nazarick. In the final episode, she was finally defeated by Ainz thanks to his knowledge of her strengths and weaknesses and by the use of Over-rank magic and cash shop items. After her defeat, she was revived using 500 million gold coins and while she was freed of the mind control, she had no memory of what happened during these events.
Demiurge (デミウルゴス Demiurugosu)
Voiced by: Masayuki Katō (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Jeff Johnson (English)
The Guardian of the Seventh floor of Nazarick, with the form of a demon wearing a suit with a metalic tail and having glasses. Demiurge is very intelligent, but is also considered the most evil NPC on Nazarick. He greatly enjoys the suffering of others, made clear by his vicious experiments on prisoners. He's in charge of tactics and defenses of Nazarick. Among the Guardians, he gets along the best with Mare, since he understands the more cunning side of the Dark Elf. He and Sebas have differing views on many topics, as did their creators, often putting them at odds with each other.
Cocytus (コキュートス Kokyūtosu)
Voiced by: Kenta Miyake (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Bryan Massey (English)
The Guardian of the Fifth floor of Nazarick, he has the form of a huge, four-armed, insect-like humanoid with the power of cryokinesis. He has a warrior personality and respects anyone with a fighting spirit. Cocytus is in charge of the security of Nazarick, and later becomes responsible for a tribe of lizardmen that Ainz has him conquer. Since his and Nabaeral's creators were close friends, they are actually quite close when they are together, acting like old friends.
Aura Bella Fiora (アウラ・ベラ・フィオーラ Aura Bera Fiōra)
Voiced by: Emiri Katō (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Jill Harris (English)
One of the Guardians of the Sixth floor of Nazarick, alongside her twin brother Mare. She's very energetic and extroverted, in contrast with her brother. Aura is a 70-year-old Dark Elf. Despite constantly fighting, she and Shalltear are quite close. Aura specializes in beast-taming and fights with a long, bladed whip.
Mare Bello Fiore (マーレ・ベロ・フィオーレ Māre Bero Fiōre)
Voiced by: Yumi Uchiyama (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Megan Shipman (English)
One of the Guardians of the Sixth floor of Nazarick alongside his twin sister Aura. He's rather shy and calm in comparison to his sister, although he can fight and be ruthless when necessary. Like his sister, Mare is a Dark Elf. Mare specializes in Druid magic, capable of twisting the earth to his whims. While he often seems shy and timid, his eyes never show any emotion.

Area Guardians

Unlike Floor Guardians, Area Guardians only guard specific portions of floors. While some Area Guardians are custom-made like Sebas or Pandora's Actor, and can even fight on par with some Floor Guardians, not all are like that. When outside their specific area, they must listen to the respective floor Guardian, but within it, they answer only to Ainz Ooal Gown. They usually guard very important areas, like the treasury or the region that controls teleportation in Nazarick.

Pandora's Actor (パンドラズ・アクター Pandorazu Akutā)
Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Eric Vale (English)
The Area Guardian in charge of the Treasury and finances of Nazarick, who was created by Momonga himself. He's a high level Doppelgänger whose face is a simple egghead with three holes dressed in a Neo-Nazi-esque uniform but can transform himself into others, even copying their abilities and powers. In Momonga's original design, he's the combination of everything that he thought was cool, with exaggerated gestures and body language but now that he is actually alive, he embarrasses Momonga. Despite his appearance and personality, he is on the same level as the Floor Guardians and is considered as intelligent as Albedo and Demiurge. He is granted permission to secretly call Ains, his Father. Secretly as Ains does not want rumours of favouritism to spread.
Kyouhukou (恐怖公, きょうふこう)
An Area Guardian in charge of a region referred to as Black Capsule. He has the appearance of a 30cm tall Cockroach, walking on it's hind legs. He wears a small crown and a cloak with a small scepter, giving the impression that he is the king of cockroaches. He speaks politely with all the etiquette of a Gentleman. The region he controls is filled with cockroaches. There are so many, they have to resort to cannibalism to survive.

Pleiades

Sebas Tian (セバス・チャン Sebasu Chan)
Voiced by: Shigeru Chiba (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Ed Blaylock (English)
The head butler of Nazarick and leader of the Pleiades Combat Maids, who specializes in unarmed combat with power comparable with the other floor Guardians. While he is not a floor Guardian, his power easily rivals many of them. He has the appearance of an elderly gentleman with a neat beard, but is actually of a species known as Dragonoids. He has a strong sense of justice, like his creator Touch-Me. Thus, he dislikes when the other Guardians kill humans needlessly. Because of their opposite personalities, he and Demiurge don't get along.

The Pleiades are a set of special maids, in battle armour, who were originally designed to protect and serve in the Throne room of Nazarick and lead by Sebas. Like the NPC's they were also made, but they are weaker than Floor Guardians. They are stated to be extremely beautiful. They are admired by the other homunculus maids of Nazarick, without powers. They are compared to an Idol group, and CZ is considered the most popular.

Yuri Alpha (ユリ・アルファ Yuri Arufa)
Voiced by: Hiromi Igarashi (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Whitney Rodgers (English)
The Vice-Captain of the Pleiades. She's a Dullahan, and like Sebas, she doesn't like killing humans without reason. The other Pleiades look up to her and her behavior is strict like a teacher's. She was considered to accompany Momonga in his exploration because she looks very human, but he decided on Narberal instead. This is something that Ainz regrets after witnessing Narberal's coldness toward other humans. She is usually looked as the Captain as Sebas usually is attending other duties and the Lastborn cannot leave her position.
Narberal Gamma (ナーベラル・ガンマ Nāberaru Ganma)
Voiced by: Manami Numakura (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Anastasia Muñoz (English)
One of the Pleiades, combat maids under Sebas Tian. She's a Doppelgänger and because she's one of the most human-looking of the maids, she is Momonga's companion in his exploration of the new world disguised as adventurers. Narberal takes great pride in this duty, often "wearing" it like a badge of honor. However, like most in Nazarick, she holds great disdain towards humans. This proves troublesome, as she becomes incredibly violent when human males make advances on her. While operating as a member of the adventuring guild, "Darkness", Narberal uses the alias of "Nabe", which becomes "Nabe, the Beautiful Lady" when Darkness becomes famous. Narberal's beauty has been compared to that of the "Golden Princess of Re-Estize" by many of the country's inhabitants. Ains often regrets choosing her as Momon's companion, due to her nature of looking down on humans.
Lupusregina Beta (ルプスレギナ・ベータ Rupusuregina Bēta)
Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Alexis Tipton (English)
One of the Pleiades. She's a werewolf with a very bright and outgoing personality. She is sociable and friendly toward humans, though it is only a mask to conceal her brutal and cunning personality. She also likes to make lewd jokes. Lupusregina is a druid capable of using healing magic, and often carries a massive staff to fight. Lupusregina is later assigned by Ainz to protect the inhabitants of Carne Village after he tames Hamsuke (as her presence was the only thing keeping monsters away from there). However, when she fails to notify him about the a threat to the village, believing it to be an unnecessary action, Ains flies into a rage, terrifying all those around. She is the only NPC who has had to face Ains' direct Anger.
CZ2128 Delta (シズ・デルタ Shizu Deruta)
Voiced by: Asami Seto (drama CD, anime)
One of the Pleiades. She's an automaton whose weapons look rather futuristic compared to the setting. Her personality is silent and emotionless, but she dislikes cannibalism and likes cute things. Her neutral personality also makes her safer to humans.
Solution Epsilon (ソリュシャン・イプシロン Soryushan Ipushiron)
Voiced by: Ayane Sakura (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Mallorie Rodak (English)
One of the Pleiades. She's a slime and one of the most dangerous Pleiades to humans, since she enjoys devouring humans alive. An assassin and poisoner who can decide to protect or dissolve things she absorbs, she can also control the speed of her digestion. Solution gets along with Shalltear because of their similar tastes.
Entoma Vasilissa Zeta (エントマ・ヴァシリッサ・ゼータ Entoma Vuashirissa Zēta)
Voiced by: Kei Shindo (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Tia Ballard (English)
One of the Pleiades. An insect-summoner who likes preying on humans (in particular eating the arms of men). Her face is actually a bug shell that hides her true face, while she disguises her voice with that of a cute girl by using a leech that can mimic a human's voice. Her original voice, which she dislikes using is harsh and grating, similar to that of Cocytus. She harbors a big grudge against an adventurer named Evileye who used anti-bug magic to destroy her cute voice in battle.
Lastborn of the Pleiades
One of the Pleiades but only under special circumstances when the Pleiades, are switched from Six Stars to Seven Sisters. She is then set as the leader of Pleiades, but as she never allowed to leave her position as Area Guardian of Cherry Blossom Sanctuary, Yuri Alpha is set as the Leader. As the Area Guardian of The Cherry Blossom Sanctuary, she is in charge of all Teleportation Gates in Nazarick. She stated to be to only Human NPC in Nazarick that possess eternal life. Whenever Ainz leaves Nazarick, he entrusts her with the Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown. Her true appearance and name are unknown. She was the original owner of a world level item, until it was given to Shalltear.

The New World

Re-Estize Kingdom

Gazef Stronoff (ガゼフ・ストロノーフ Gazefu Sutoronōfu)
Voiced by: Hiroshi Shirokuma (anime) (Japanese); Ray Hurd (English)
Gazef is the Warrior Captain of the Re-Estize Kingdom. He is the King's personal bodyguard and considered to be the Strongest Warrior of the Re-Estize Kingdom. As only nobles can become a "Knight" in the Kingdom, Gazef commands his own "Warrior Troops" instead. He is hated by the nobles of the Kingdom, who often try to use the fact that he was born a commoner to limit his actions. His also feared, due to his ability to use a number of martial arts, easily without effort. After the events of the first novel, he has a reduced view of his talents and he greatly admires Ains. He is killed in the 9th light novel, by Ains, after challenging him to a duel, he knew he could not win, in an attempt to save the Kingdom. Before his death, he refuses resurrection as he states people only have one life, and Ains also kills him with a upper class spell, which prevents low- tier resurrection.
Brain Unglaus (ブレイン・アングラウス Burein Angurausu)
Voiced by: Koji Yusa (anime) (Japanese); Chad Halbrook (English)
A warrior turned mercenary who sees himself as Gazef's rival. When Shalltear raided his hideout and slaughtered his men, he found himself terrified and humiliated that Shalltear blocked his strongest technique with her pinky finger. He barely managed to flee the Vampire. After that his will is shattered, stating how the peak of the strongest cannot be climbed by weak beings like humans. He regains his will, when he sees Climb, withstand the intense killing intent from Sebas, understanding that humans can still change and become stronger. When he re-encounters Shalltear (who does not remember him due to the mind control she faced), he manages to cut the nail on her Pinky finger, which reinforces the belief that he can still try to beat her.
Climb (クライム Climu)
The Personal Bodyguard of the Third Princess of the Re-Estize Kingdom, Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself. She saved him, when he was just a street urchin about to die from sickness. As such, he views his services to her as a fulfilling of that debt he owes. He is willing to give up his life for her. He wears a pure white, full plate armor given to him by Renner, and is equipped with a broadsword and a shield. This armor is made of Mythril, making it extremely strong and expensive. He is rather disliked by most in the place due to the fact that he was not even a commoner, but an urchin, and he was put in such a position, without any effort. He ignores the open discrimination which make them dislike him more. He has no exceptional talents, However the effort and sheer will he applies make him a exceptional fighter. When he sees Sebas on the street beating a group of drunkards, he is amazed by the effortlessness and the power behind his movements and asks him to teach him. Sebas decides to give him one lesson, and warns him he may die, before releasing an extreme bloodlust, which freezes Climb in place. Just as Sebas is about to attack him, He recalls Renner's face and his desire to live for her and manages to dodge at the last second, allowing him to overcome his fear of death. He also learned from Gazef, who understood the troubles he faced in the place, both of them being commoners. He greatly admires Sebas, and is unaware that he serves Ains. While he is unaware of Renner's true nature, he believes that she wears a facade over her true self. He is also close to the members of Blue Rose, one of the 3 Adamantium adventurer groups in the Kingdom.
Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself (ラナー・ティエール・シャルドルン・ライル・ヴァイセルフ)
Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself is the Third Princess of Re-Estize Kingdom, the youngest daughter of King Lanposa III and the youngest sister of Prince Barbro and Prince Zanac. She is also known as the Golden Princess for being a reformer who brought major changes within the Kingdom, and for her great beauty. She is described as a young girl with long golden hair, silky smooth and supple as it drapes over the back of her neck. She has vibrant, dark blue eyes that shine like sapphires, filled with warmth. She wears a fashionable white dress, which further strengthens her image of purity. Around her neck hangs a golden necklace, appearing to symbolize her noble soul. Renner is known publicly as the Golden Princess for her benevolence and kindness. While she is believed to be a saint, in reality she has a psychopathic personality and doesn't care about the feelings of others. The only exception to this is Climb. When Climb was wounded, she declared that anyone involved would be ruthlessly killed. She merely maintains this facade in order to maintain her good reputation. She is stated to have had this mindset since she was a child but only began hiding it with a mask of foolish innocence when she became older. Her love for Climb, while true, seems somewhat demented as she likens him to a Dog, stating his gaze is like a puppy that wants to please her and stay with her. She often states how she wants to chain him up to make she he cannot leave, and keep him as her dog. Her love emerged from that fact that her mental capacities were overdeveloped as a child, and no one truly understood her until she saved Climb, who began to hold onto her every word. She understands that her love is different but she doesn't care and has no desire to change the way she feels. She is willing to do anything in order to be with Climb, initially settling for him staying as her lover, as he would never be accepted as her husband, but now even betraying her family and Kingdom, to the Sorcerer Kingdom where she will eventually be granted status of a Area Guardian after the Kingdom is annexed by the Sorcerer Kingdom.

Swords of Darkness

The Swords of Darkness (漆黒の剣 Shikkoku No Ken) was a Silver ranked adventurer group of E-Rantel. The group's name was based on its dream of collecting the Swords of Darkness, heroic weapons that were used by the Dark Hero, a member of the legendary Thirteen Heroes who saved the world from an army of monsters known as the Demon Lords (heavily implied to be the NPC servants of the Eight Greed Kings, who had gone insane from not having any orders to follow). The members are extremely close, having braved many near-death situations together. Each member carried a black shortsword with four small jewels embedded in the hilt. These swords represented the team's symbol and determination to make their dream come true. They all appear once, in the second Light novel, before being murdered and turned to Undead, by Clementine and Khajiit Dale Badantel.

After he sends adventurers into Nazarick, Ainz sends Aura and Mare to the Empire, and demands that he apologize for the invaders. They show their strength to Jircniv by burying a huge number of his soldiers alive, and he agrees to head to Nazarick.
When he sees Nazarick, with his advisors, he is in awe of the beauty, power and wealth that it holds and realizes the power it holds. When he discovers that all the residents are inhuman and the ruler, Ainz, is undead, he is terrified as he can sense the pure power radiating off of Ainz. He proposes and alliance between the Empire and Nazarick, which Aniz accepts. Afterwards, it is reveled that he plans for an secret alliance with other Human nations to fight against Ainz and hopes to try and sway one of Ainz's subordinates to his side.
In the events of Light novel 10, It is shown that his mental state is degrading as the people are in fear, blaming him for siding with Ainz. Nazarick Supporters

Hamsuke/The Wise King of the Forest (ハムスケ Hamusuke)
Voiced by: Akeno Watanabe (drama CD, anime) (Japanese); Heather Walker (English)
A female Djungarian Hamster (essentially a large hamster with a snake-like tail that is as hard as iron) that previously lived in the forests near Carne Village. Being originally referred to as "The Wise King of the Forest", she was thought to be strongest beast among the forest denizens. Which lead Ainz to search for it, under the guise of "Momon", to increase his fame. He does so with the help of Aura, who draws it out, and he defeats it with the Weakest form of a despair spell and promptly tames it, naming it "Hamsuke". Hamsuke then joins Ainz's adventuring party, "Darkness", as his registered beast. Hamsuke is notably intelligent and capable of human speech. After joining Darkness, Hamsuke devotes herself totally to "Momon", despite her inability to get along with Narberal (as Narberal often threatens her). She seems to be a more-or-less dense idiot, focusing mostly on her own strength and her present surroundings, rather than thinking ahead. Ains becomes extremely puzzled when other people view her with respect due to her air of "wisdom" and cannot understand what others see in her. While weak against most from Nazarick, she is very strong against people from the New world. She has devoted herself to getting stronger, and in the 7th light novel, she even learnt how to perform Martial Arts.
Tsuareninya Beiron (ツアレニーニャ・ベイロン)
A maid apprentice of the Great Tomb of Nazarick under Sebas Tian's supervision and she is also under the protection of Ainz Ooal Gown. She is the older sister of Ninya Berion, from the Swords of Darkness. She and her sister were extremely close, until she was captured by a dangerous Noble, after which at some point she was sold into slavery and prostitution. She eventually was sold to a brothel owned by the Eight Fingers, an underground Criminal organization, physically abused (due to a man's fetish of beating women, bloody within an inch of their lives) and was to be disposed of, until by luck she encountered Sebas. She managed to get his attention by hooking her fingers onto his pant sleeve. On seeing her condition, he offered to help her, stating he would only help those who would still fight for their lives. She managed to weakly respond, which was a miracle considering her condition. Sebas took her home, where he healed with Solution's reluctant help, and nursed her broken mind back to a state of stability.
However when Ains discovers that Sebas was taking care of her without reporting it, he becomes fearful of Sebas's loyalty. Demiruge, Cocytus, Pandora's actor( pretending to be Ains) and Victim, come and test his loyalty by demanding him to kill Tsuare, who accepts it with a smile as she would rather die at the hands of one she loves. However when Sebas tried to kill her, he is stopped by Cocytus and told to stand down as it is merely a test. After the test, she revels her love for Sebas by kissing him, which he returns. Then Tsuare is taken to Nazarick, where the real Ains, notices the similarity between her and Ninya. He demands her full name, after which he understand the realation between the two sisters. Then Sebas requests, on her behalf, her desire to stay with Sebas in Nazarick, which is granted by Ains and he even grants her protection under his own name as gratitude to Ninya, as he obtained useful information from her Diary, and as a brief companion of Momon.
Hejinmal (ヘジンマール)
A frost dragon, and son of Frost Dragon Lord, Olasird’arc Haylilyal. He, unlike most dragons, is more scholarly in attitude, rather than violent or brutish. He has weak eyesight, due to his constant reading, and wears a pair of spectacles, which he takes care of dearly. He is stated to be fat, due to lack of exercise. He is timid and almost cowardly, preferring to run away, than engage in combat. He was sent by his father to stop the invaders (Ainz and companions) that were attacking the captured dwarf kingdom. When he saw Ainz, he was terrified as Elder Lichs are able to cast Fire magic, a weakness for Frost Dragons. That combined with the equipment Ainz and his companions had along with Ainz's own power, was enough to make him surrender, when Ainz raised his hand. He swears his loyalty to Ainz and Ainz gives him to Aura, who makes him her pet. One reason why Ainz spared him, was his fat, as Dragons in general are supposed to be lean and fit, and Ainz assumed that Hejinmal was a rare specimen.
Hejinmal took Ainz to his father, who demanded Ainz's equipment if he wanted to be spared. Ainz then killed Olasird’arc with 'Grasp Heart' and was about to kill his 3 mates, except Hejinmal's mother, as per a promise he made. However all three claimed they were his mother, and Hejinmal took pity and stated that all three were his mothers, and Ainz spared them. Hejinmal is terrified of both Ainz and Aura, at viewing both of their power. He states that he is not very close to his birth mother, despite the blood connection between them, and that he would not risk his life for her, but he still decided to ask for her to spared.

Carne Village

A small Village in the Re-Estize Kingdom, later in the Sorcerer Kingdom. Ainz encountered the Village under attack soldiers from the Slane Theocracy, and saved them and they have remained faithful and loyal to Ainz, especially in Light Novel 9, when they were asked to fight against Ainz.
