List of Peace & Prosperity episodes
Mediacorp Channel 8's television series Peace & Prosperity is a socio-drama series produced by Mediacorp Singapore in 2016. The story is centered around the lives of the Huang family who have been running a TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) clinic for three generations. The family-run business is on the search for its next successor as the young generation of Huangs are not interested in TCM and have yet to prove themselves capable of running the business.
The show aired on Mediacorp Channel 8 in Singapore from 4 April 2016 to 28 November 2016 with 170 episodes.

| Prosperity Hall is a 50-year-old Chinese medical hall helmed by Huang Datong (Zhang Wei), who inherited the business from his father. He had intended for his second son, Huang Yuanzhe, to succeed him, but Yuanzhe passed away at a young age. Yuanzhe’s wife, Shen Ping’an (Xiang Yun), was groomed to take over. Datong is now worried he will not be able to find a heir from the third generation. Yuanzhe and Ping’an have six daughters. Datong’s eldest son, Huang Yuanhao (Marcus Chin), and wife, Lin Shuzhi (Lin Meijiao), bore the only grandson, Huang Zihao, for the Huang family. However, Zihao is spoilt and decidedly self-indulgent. Unhappy Datong favours Ping’an, Yuanhao kicks up a ruckus at Prosperity Hall’s 50th anniversary celebration. Ping’an’s tomboyish fifth daughter, Zihong (Julie Tan), clashes with him. The whole celebration is ruined. The neighbourhood residents support Datong and Ping’an. In particular, the two brothers, Xiao Fangfang (Ling Xiao) and Xiao Tiantian (Yao Wenlong), from the manicure shop are on their side. | ||

| Tiantian is meddlesome but helpful, and well-loved by everyone in the neighbourhood. He cooks for the neighbours everyday. Ping’an’s medical skills are praised by a foreign patient, who sends her a plaque. Everyone congratulates her. Shuzhi and Yuanhao join in the fun and almost cause an accident. Fortunately, Zihong’s agility saves the situation. While her mother is being acclaimed, Ziting (Belinda Lee) feels inferior. She thinks she lacks the ability to succeed her. Tiantian consoles her and says her goal should be to find a good husband. Ziting beams. Early in the morning, Ziting prepares breakfast for the Huang family. Zijun (Dawn Yeoh) lazes in bed as usual, and is scorned by Zishan (Tong Bing Yu) for relegating the responsibility of taking care of her husband and son to their eldest sister. Datong congratulates Zishan on her soon-to-be opened clinic. | ||

| Zixin (Michelle Wong) returns home for a short stay. Datong is concerned about her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the university. Although she dislikes TCM, she doesn’t want to disappoint her grandfather and mother. Yuanhao and Shuzhi feel threatened by Ping’an. They decide to play their trump card — their only son, Zihao (Shane Pow). Zihao promises to get into Datong’s good books, on condition Shuzhi settles his debts. However, he is such a braggart that Datong is intensely irritated. Ping’an attends to a patient with Zixin. She reproaches Zixin for making the patient nervous. Zixin feels she is not cut out to be a Chinese physician. Zishan and He Sheng (Terence Cao)’s clinic opens. Fangfang and the rest arrive to congratulate them. The professor’s view is that operating a clinic in the heartland is a waste of He Sheng’s talent. He Sheng insists serving the neighbourhood is the correct choice. Zihong has the misconception that Yingxiong (Desmond Tan) has ill-treated Liangliang (Ian Teng). She takes Liangliang to Zishan’s clinic and threatens to sue Yingxiong. | ||

| Zihong realises she has done Yingxiong wrong. He turns out to be Liangliang’s father. Zishan scolds her for being impulsive, and blames Ping’an for spoiling Zihong, who had accidentally caused her to be paralysed years ago. Ziting reminds Zixin to study hard, to fulfil Datong and Ping’an’s wishes. Zixin feels pressured. Yuanhao is unhappy Datong favours Ping’an and suspects their relationship is improper. Fangfang and Tiantian berate him. Ping’an understands Datong’s regrets about not having a successor. She suggests grooming Zihao. When she informs Yuanhao and Shuzhi that she is going to train their son, they are overjoyed. The news spreads throughout the neighbourhood. Zihong and the others do not understand why Ping’an is taking on such a daunting task. Only Zixin hopes Zihao will succeed, so that she can be released of the burden of becoming a Chinese physician. | ||

| Xiaoqiang (Jeffrey Xu)’s friend, Niujing, comes to visit him. Niujing envies Xiaoqiang for marrying a rich girl. Xiaoqiang is pleased. Datong encounters Yingxiong at a foot massage parlour. Yingxiong recalls how he was accused of causing Yuanzhe’s death and as a result, was kicked out of the Huang family. Yingxiong tells his father about his encounter with Datong. Yingxiong’s father worries he still harbours resentment and will seek revenge. Yingxiong takes Liangliang to buy fruits, and sees Shuzhi at the stall. He remembers how mean she was to him. He flatters her excessively, deliberately leaving her with a good impression of him. Saying it’s an old trade, Zihao is reluctant to learn about Chinese medicine. His friend, Baojie (Romeo Tan), reminds him Prosperity Hall is a gold mine and suggests he take over the medical hall first. Once he revamps it, he will become a rich man. Zihao is tempted. He looks for Ping’an and spells out his conditions. He will join Prosperity Hall on Aug 1. | ||

| Zihong gathers her sisters to discuss Zihao joining Prosperity Hall. They are not worried. Ziting and Ping’an suggest giving Zihao a chance. When Zishan ridicules Zihong for not contributing anything productive to the discussion, they argue, and Zihong leaves in a huff. Ping’an tries to console her. Ziting goes for another blind date. She makes plans to have a complete makeover, and asks to borrow Zixin’s clothes. Zixin advises her to be herself, to test if her date is sincere. Tiantian reminds everyone to take precautions against kidney disease. The residents praise him for being a caring person. They comment that Ziting is his ideal girl. He denies this, even though he has taken a liking to her. Yingxiong’s father, Liangcai (Yan Bingliang), is on his way home after a dialysis session. He faints just outside Prosperity Hall. Ping’an attends to him and allows him to go home. He faints again outside the clinic. Zishan reproaches her for not rushing Liangcai to the hospital. Ping’an’s fourth daughter, Ziyu (Tracy Lee), returns to Singapore as the youngest vice president for the Asia division of an airline. Her arrogant and domineering attitude causes conflict with Yingxiong and Zihong. | ||

| Ziyu finds Zihong boorish, and they squabble. Ziyu also criticises everyone else at the dinner table. Fed up, Ping’an leaves halfway through the meal. Bryan (Ben Yeo), Ziyu’s husband, apologises to Ping’an, who asks why Ziyu has become so bad-tempered. He hesitates to open up. Datong checks Ziyu’s pulse and points out that she doesn’t look well. She says she is jet-lagged. Bryan adds that she is not sleeping well and gets migraine headaches. On Ziyu’s first day of work, she orders her subordinates to line up and welcome her. She scolds Zhong Yunyun in front of everyone. She even complains about her incompetent boss to her assistant. Both Ping’an’s lion dance troupe and Fangfang’s dance group are practising for the community day event at the community centre. Fangfang is injured. Fortunately, Ping’an is there to treat his injury. He develops feelings for her. Zihong plays happily with Liangliang, who comes to watch the lion dance practice. She discovers Yingxiong has an in-depth knowledge of TCM. Accused of stealing a customer’s wallet, Yingxiong resigns in a fit of anger. Datong witnesses the whole exchange. | ||

| Yingxiong is mistaken for a thief. Datong tries to calm him down. Yingxiong has a keen sense of smell, and he is able to identify Chinese herbs easily. He reminds Ping’an of Hong Xiaochuan (Ezekiel Chee), Yuanzhe’s god-son. Yuanhao and Shuzhi try to ingratiate themselves with Datong and put in a good word for Zihao. Datong is unmoved. Shuzhi laments that Zihao has let them down. She and Yuanhao decide to help pave the way for him to become Prosperity Hall’s successor. Fangfang mocks their efforts, and points out that Zihao does not have the capability to run the business. A patient shows her lack of confidence in Zishan, who is disabled. Zishan’s feelings are hurt, and He Sheng consoles her. When she observes how loving he and his fiancee, Meiling, are she becomes jealous. Ping’an’s decision to let Zihao take over Prosperity Hall is known throughout the neighbourhood. The residents complain and pressure her to change her mind. Ziting questions Ping’an’s decision, too. Ping’an expresses her regret at not having a son. | ||

| Ziting takes Ping’an’s words to heart, and grumbles at Zijun and Xiaoqiang for being content and not sharing Ping’an’s worries. Xiaoqiang suggests Ziting collaborate with his friend, Niujing, and start a business supplying Chinese herbs for Prosperity Hall. Ziting agrees wholeheartedly. Zishan’s secret love for He Sheng leads her onto an emotional roller coaster. Simin consults Zishan in the middle of the night, complaining of severe stomach pain since eating medicine prescribed by Ping’an. Zishan advises her to go to the hospital. Xiaoqiang discusses with Ping’an and Datong the possibility of starting a Chinese herbs supply business. They give the green light. Their conversation is overheard by Yuanhao and Shuzhi, who have brought a Chinese herbal dish over. They tell Datong that it was Zihao who cooked the dish, and suggest opening a eatery specialising in Chinese herbal dishes to replace Zishan’s clinic. Zishan is upset. | ||

| Tiantian and Fangfang find out Yuanhao and Shuzhi were lying to Datong. The Chinese herbal dish was actually made by Tiantian. Yuanhao had asked Tiantian to cook the dish for Shuzhi, citing her need for nourishment. Tiantian threatens to expose them. The couple sweet-talks him into covering up for them instead. Meanwhile, Zihao continues to be self-indulgent. Fangfang is concerned about who is going to inherit Prosperity Hall. Ping’an takes it easy. Fangfang is frustrated when his students start arguing again. He Sheng mediates between them. Ping’an asks He Sheng about Zishan’s clinic, and he replies that he will offer free consultation to boost Zishan’s reputation in the neighbourhood. Liangliang watches the lion dance practice. He is blamed for dirtying the lion’s head. Yingxiong is angry with his son for getting into trouble again. Zihong saves the situation. She declares Liangliang is her disciple. Ping’an discusses with Zihong how they can help Zishan. Lamenting the discrimination against disabled doctors, Zihong resolves to help Zishan. Suddenly, Ziting screams, rushes downstairs, and accidentally sprains her ankle. It turns out that she has received a phone call from a man for the first time, after having been on numerous blind dates. She is ecstatic, as she has always wanted to get married. Ping’an worries about her daughter. Tiantian has mixed feelings too. | ||

| The neighbourhood is abuzz with gossip about Ziting’s successful blind date. She becomes distressed when the details are exaggerated. Comforted by Tiantian, she perks up. Simin is paranoid enough to consult Ping’an again. Ping’an advises her to get a checkup at the hospital. Jinzhu is anxious about getting rid of her cough, so she can be ready for her upcoming performance. As Chinese medicine takes effect slowly, Ping’an suggests she visit a Western general practitioner. At Zishan’s clinic, Jinzhu requests an “instant cough remedy”. Zishan is unhappy that Jinzhu is visiting her at the advice of Ping’an. Megan (Jayley Woo) wears branded clothes and brags that she is high-classed. The residents think she is an ego-maniac. Fangfang’s eyes are teary and puffy from watching melodramatic Korean serials. He consults Ping’an about his insomnia. When he notices Xie Xian, his ex-girlfriend, waiting for her turn to see Ping’an, he exits by the back door. To improve Zihao’s relationship with the others, Yuanhao and Shuzhi treat Ziting and Xiaoqiang to musang king durians. Zijun reveals Ping’an does not intend to let Zihao succeed her. Infuriated, Yuanhao confronts Ping’an. | ||

| Yuanhao gloats that Ping’an is unable to produce a son for Yuanzhe. Ping’an is upset by his remarks, and Zihong attempts to hit him. Refusing to apologise to Yuanhao, Zihong quarrels with Ping’an. Fangfang advises Zihong to try to understand Ping’an. He also persuades her to stop acting like a tomboy and to tame her fiery temper. Zihong witnesses how Fangfang became gloomy after he chanced upon Xie Xian. She senses that there is something between them. Yuanhao’s nasty remarks trigger Datong’s memories of Yuanzhe. Datong feels the injustice against Ping’an keenly. Shuzhi raps Yuanhao for being impulsive and offending Datong and Ping’an. For the sake of their son, they decide to salvage the situation. Ziyu scolds Yunyun at the office. Bryan apologises to Yunyun on Ziyu’s behalf. When Ziyu finds out, she quarrels with him. In the end, it is Bryan who gives in yet again. Yuanhao and Shuzhi pay Datong a visit. Ziyu chides them sharply. | ||

| Ziyu warns Yuanhao and Shuzhi not to bully Ping’an. Yuanhao cries and begs Datong for forgiveness. Datong orders them to apologise to Ping’an. Simin’s son takes her to H&H clinic. Simin refuses to heed Zishan’s advice to get treatment at a hospital. Dismissing Zishan as incompetent, she insists she will consult Ping’an instead. Zihao is mean to Zihong’s friend. Zihong is clearly displeased, but he provokes her further by taunting her for having been jailed in the past and saying she is the shame of the Huang family. Incensed, she almost hits him. Ping’an stops her. Ping’an reprimands Zihong and insists she apologise to Yuanhao and Shuzhi. Refusing, Zihong runs away from home. Datong comforts Ping’an. He is grateful to her for bringing up his six granddaughters, who each are accomplished in their own right. He has come to terms with the prospect of an outsider inheriting Prosperity Hall. After leaving home, Zihong encounters Yingxiong. They bicker. Zixin takes Yuhui to H&H clinic. She can tell that Zishan is infatuated with He Sheng, and encourages her to pursue her love bravely. Yuanhao and Shuzhi go to Prosperity Hall and beg Ping’an for forgiveness. She assures them that she will keep her promise and give Zihao a chance. | ||

| He Sheng is frustrated that Meiling nags him constantly about getting married. He confides in Zishan that his relationship with Meiling has turned stale. Unable to control herself, she kisses him. Zihong refuses to return home. Loitering around, she encounters Yingxiong yet again. He can’t help but ask the cause of Zishan’s disability. Zihong replies that it was a consequence of her mischievousness when they was young. Ping’an misdiagnosed the injury as something minor, which delayed them going to a hospital. Yingxiong laments that Zishan no longer smiles like she used to. Zihong stays over at Yingxiong’s house. Liangliang is delighted. He hopes she will become his mother and remain with them permanently. Ping’an recalls how Yuanzhe had hoped for a boy when she was expecting their fifth child. Even though time has passed, she still misses Yuanzhe. Going home at night, Ping’an passes by Fangfang’s shop, where he is singing karaoke to forget his failed love. He invites her to join him. Yuanhao is angry about the blow that Zihong dealt Zihao. Unexpectedly, Shuzhi remarks that Zihao deserved it. | ||

| Yuanhao and Shuzhi show their appreciation to Ping’an, with respect to Zihong injuring Zihao. Unbeknownst to them, Zihao had planned it all to gain sympathy. The residents gather at Datong’s house to discuss the neighbourhood retailers’ event. Fangfang claims Yuanhao is causing problems, and asks Datong to rein his son in. While paying respects to his deceased brother, Yuanhao purposely says he remembers their promise to expand Prosperity Hall. He knows Datong is listening. Zishan returns home, where she meets He Sheng. They feel awkward seeing each other after the kiss. He announces that he is going to get married, and she becomes disheartened. Zihong stays the night at Yingxiong’s place, and is kicked out the next day. At home, she is lectured by Datong. He reminds her how her impulsiveness had landed her in jail, and that her drunk driving had cost her good friend her life. He hopes she will not repeat her mistakes. Zihong finally apologises to Yuanhao. Shuzhi insists Zihong is not in the wrong and thanks Ping’an for not holding a grudge. Ziting’s blind date, Pierre Chew, pays her an unexpected visit. Absent-mindedly, she misses a step and injures her leg. | ||

| Ziting is mesmerised by Pierre. When Tiantian interrupts them, she prompts him to leave. The residents start gossiping about how quickly Pierre is being allowed to be alone with Ziting in her room. Zijun keeps vomitting. A test confirms she is pregnant, and she and Xiaoqiang are elated. However, Xiaoqiang worries, as he is about to make an overseas trip with Niujing to check into the supply of the Chinese herbs. Ziting assures him she can look after Zijun, even though her leg is injured. Zihong pays respects to her late friend Ice, at the columbarium. She recalls how Ice was killed in the accident due to her drunk driving. She is filled with remorse. Just after Zihong leaves, Yingxiong arrives with his son. Ice was his wife. He looks resolutely at the picture of her and declares the time is right for him to enter Prosperity Hall. The neighbourhood residents participate in the free consultation organised by H&H clinic. Zishan’s popularity surges. Everyone respects her for overcoming her disability. Ping’an is glad for the boost to Zishan’s self-esteem. Envious, Yuanhao and Shuzhi incite Simin to confront Zishan for her high fees. Simin thinks Zishan is deliberately prolonging the treatment for her stomach discomfort. | ||

| Simin is about to hit Zishan. Zihong stops her. Pushed aside, Zihong sustains a cut on her arm. He Sheng treats her wound. Zishan berates Zihong for creating trouble. They argue heatedly while Yingxiong looks on from outside. Ziyu reprimands her subordinates when negotiations with the pilots break down. She criticises them for being incompetent. After Ziyu returns home that night, she cries in the toilet. Bryan recognises that his wife is stressed, but he feels helpless. Zishan is in a bad mood. She scolds the maid, Yuni, for treating her like a disabled person. Ping’an reproaches Zishan for the grudge she has held against her and Zihong since the day she became paralysed. Zishan blames Zihong, who retorts and leaves home in a rage. Zihong wanders in the streets, unable to find a place to stay. Yingxiong, who has been waiting for the opportunity, comes out and offers to let her stay at his place. Out of boredom, Tiantian chats with Ziting and prepares dessert for her. She reminds him not to cook green bean soup, which she hates. Pierre visits Ziting. He brings her green bean soup, which she eats readily. | ||

| Yingxiong observes the happenings within Prosperity Hall from outside. He notices when Datong is the only one around and unable to cope. Grabbing the opportunity, Yingxiong offers to help with the patients and customers. Yingxiong manages with ease. Pleased with his performance, Datong asks if he will come again the next day. Yingxiong volunteers to help out at Prosperity Hall. Yuanhao and Shuzhi speculate about his motive. At the fruit stall, Zihao asks his parents for money. Yuanhao wants him to help out at Prosperity Hall in return. He obliges reluctantly. A video showing Zishan giving free consultation is posted on the Internet. The comments are positive. Tiantian shares the video with everyone. The residents’ suggestions lead Tiantian to set up a website for posts on the good deeds done by neighbourhood residents. Zihong admits to Yingxiong that it was she who posted the video clip. She still cares about Prosperity Hall and her family. He advises her to return home. Liangcai has doubts that Yingxiong’s intentions for Zihong and Prosperity Hall are noble. In public, Zishan and He Sheng seem to have a good relationship, but when they are alone, he shuns her. | Yet again, Zihao extorts money from Ping’an. Zihong is so angry that she nearly hits him. Losing her balance, she accidentally falls into Baojie’s arms. Zihong is so enraged that she quarrels with Yuanhao. Unable to tolerate the fracas, Ping’an takes a rod and beats Zihong’s backside. During the commotion, Baojie notices Megan filming the whole incident. Megan tries to avoid Baojie but to no avail. It happens that they know each other. Niujing and Xiaoqiang discuss the overseas trip for the Chinese herbs business. Xiaoqiang is undecided, as Zijun is pregnant. Ziting encourages him to go. Ziting has queries about the authenticity and source of the Chinese herbs. Being a layman, Niujing is caught off-guard by her questions. He almost gives himself away. When Ping’an returns, he finds an excuse to leave. Ping’an regrets beating Zihong. Neither is willing to compromise. The others try to persuade Zihong to apologise to her mother. Pierre visits again. He asks Ping’an’s permission to date Ziting. Ping’an agrees. | ||

| Ziting asks Pierre if he is serious about marriage. He says yes, and she is elated. When she asks how he had obtained her phone number, he replies using the lies Tiantian had taught him. Zihong’s stand-off with Ping’an drags on. She refuses to give in. Ziting tries to talk her around by sharing the difficulties Ping’an had faced while pregnant with Zihong. Relenting, Zihong makes a soup for Ping’an as a gesture of her apology. They patch up. Ping’an talks terms and conditions with Zihao and gives him an acupuncture treatment at the same time. When he extorts money from her, she laments that he will never change. Datong allows Yingxiong to help out in Prosperity Hall. He is also willing to teach the latter. Ping’an is puzzled by Datong’s decision, as she is prepared to train Zihao. Datong thinks Yingxiong’s presence could ignite Zihao’s interest in learning. Ping’an accepts Datong’s decision. Watching the diligent Yingxiong, Ping’an recalls about her late husband and Xiaochuan. Yingxiong’s TCM knowledge is greater than Zihong’s. Disgruntled, she goes to the hawker centre. The people there advise her to stay out of trouble and stop beating people up. Tiantian and Fangfang also urge her to tame her temper. Ziyu’s subordinate, Yunyun, takes her mother to see Ping’an. Suspecting a mental problem, Ping’an advises her to see a psychiatrist. Yunyun’s mother flies into a rage and chides Ping’an. | ||

| Ziyu berates Yunyun for skipping work. Yingxiong is surprised Ziyu is so fierce. He laments that she has changed so much since their childhood days. Ping’an advises Ziyu not to be too harsh on her subordinates. Nonetheless, Ziyu returns to the office and reprimands them. She even throws her laptop to the floor, shocking everyone. Bryan learns from his colleague about Ziyu’s violent outburst. Worried her bipolar disorder is worsening, he tries to persuade her to take a break. She turns a deaf ear to his advice. Zihong goes into a foul mood after everyone criticises her for being a troublemaker. Pierre visits Ziting again, bearing a cake he has baked. Zishan comments that it is awful. Zijun makes an excuse to leave so she doesn’t have to eat a slice. Pierre is embarrassed only Ziting and Tiantian appreciate his cake. Tiantian is actually the matchmaker behind Pierre and Ziting’s relationship. He reminds Pierre not to let her down. | Tiantian diverts Pierre’s attention. Pierre nearly finds out that he likes Ziting. Megan goes to Zijun’s house to manicure her nails. They chat, and Megan shares that she is from a rich family. Zijun ridicules her for bragging. Baojie happens to drive by. He sees Megan entering the Huang residence. Out of curiosity, he gets Zihao to go with him to find out what is going on. Ziting, Zishan and Zijun endure Zihao’s mockery. Suddenly, Zihong rushes out of her room. She is unexpectedly friendly to Zihao. Ziting and the others heave a sigh of relief. Baojie reveals to Zihao that he is interested in giving Zihong a makeover. Zihao is sure he will not succeed. Baojie waits for Megan to come out. Ping’an shares her worries about Zihong’s bad temper and Prosperity Hall’s succession woes with Yingxiong. She also tells him about her late husband’s godson, Hong Zichuan, who was regarded as their best hope of a successor. Yingxiong is reminded of the happy times he had with Ping’an and Yuanzhe. Zixin learns about Zishan’s romantic troubles and encourages her to face He Sheng bravely. Zihong has been suppressing her anger towards Zihao. Just in time, however, she stops herself from swallowing the pills. Ziyu wants to get more sleeping pills from H&H clinic. She accidentally bumps into Yingxiong. He tries to prevent her from falling, and she accuses him of molest. She insists Ping’an should fire him. Shuzhi and Yuanhao gloat over Yingxiong’s misfortune. They are sceptical of his motives in joining Prosperity Hall. After Tiantian reveals Datong is going to train Yingxiong, Shuzhi makes plans to rope Yingxiong over to their side. She composes herself quickly and turns the tables around using an aggressive approach. Everyone is impressed by her strong will. Xiaoqiang is spurred on by Ziyu’s words. The video clip goes viral. It affects Ziyu’s work and her company’s reputation. When Sky orders her to resolve the matter, she decides to press charges against Yingxiong. Zihao sells the information to Yuanhao. Yuanhao tries to get Tiantian and Fangfang to spread the gossip. They are torn between helping Ziyu keep her secret and helping Yingxiong clear his name. Zihong learns from Liangliang that Yingxiong is innocent. Upset Yingxiong has taken the blame for something he did not do, she laments to Fangfang and Tiantian. He is determined to give her a makeover himself. Baojie tries to talk Zihong into letting him do her makeup. He reasons that he has reached stagnation career-wise and wants to challenge himself. Datong manages to convince Ziyu to move in with them. Zijun fears Ziyu might go berserk and attack her and her child. Yingxiong goes to the Huang residence with Tiantian, to apologise to Ziyu. Zihong objects, but Yingxiong is adamant. He kneels and asks for forgiveness. Tiantian films the entire episode. Later on, Datong and Ping’an ask Yingxiong into the room. They announce that they will take him in as their apprentice and groom him to be Prosperity Hall’s successor. He is taken by surprise. Ziyu is triumphant. Unable to conclude that they are ill, Zishan advises Fengying not to be so paranoid about the children’s health as to keep giving them medicine. She compliments him for possessing the qualities they are looking for in Prosperity Hall’ successor. Yuanhao overhears their conversation. He quickly discusses counter-measures with Shuzhi. Afterwards, Niujing criticises Xiaoqiang for having no status in the Huang family, which makes Xiaoqiang both disappointed and embarrassed. He suddenly remembers Yuanyuan had remitted more than $200,000 to him for safekeeping. He calls Niujing and informs him the money has been raised. After he suggests living together, Pierre puts together a cupboard of clothes for Ziting. She appreciates the gesture, but realises some of the clothes do not fit, and some have even been worn before. Zixin’s jewellery business is booming. However, she worries about juggling the work and her studies at the same time. Thankfully, her boyfriend-cum-lecturer, Longyi, offers to help her. Zixin confides in Ziting. Guilt-stricken, Ziting blames herself for neglecting Zixin, who has been hiding her troubles from the family. Ziting tells Zixin that Pierre wants them to just live together. She also mentions that he has given her second-hand clothes that do not fit. Zixin suspects Pierre is two-timing, but Ziting chooses to trust him. Yingxiong questions He Sheng’s intentions towards Zishan, and warns him against hurting her. He Sheng dismisses the suggestion, saying he will always be her senior. | Fengying faints outside Prosperity Hall while looking for her son. He Sheng brings Aiguo over. The boy was scared of seeing the doctor and being forced to take medicine, so she went to He Sheng for help. Fengying pesters Aiguo to take his medicine. He tries to run away. Zihong happens to arrive and gets caught in the ruckus. Fengying accidentally hurts her. Zihong finds out it was Baojie who delivered food to Yixiu. Seeing him in a new light, she agrees to go on a date with him. Yingxiong and Fangfang notice Fengying’s home is cluttered with both Western and Chinese medication. Yingxiong warns her against carelessly medicating her child, as well as the side effects of certain medicines. He disposes of them on the spot. Ping’an is frustrated about Xiaoqiang’s request for a loan. Yingxiong tries to console her. This leads her to remember Xiaochuan’s thoughtfulness. She laments that daughters are never as understanding as sons. Yingxiong says Xiaoqiang is her son-in-law, which makes him half a son. Zihong goes home with a bandage on her head, and Ziting is prompted to ask if she has been in another fight. As a result of Xiaoqiang’s careless remarks, Zihong and Zijun have a heated argument. | Ziting is troubled about merely living together with Pierre. Unconsciously, she blurts the matter out to Tiantian, and he gets upset. Meanwhile, Fangfang is anxious that this matter will add to the many worries Ping’an already has. Watching Tiantian consoling Ziting, Megan fumes with jealousy. She rants at Ziting to accept the terms Pierre has set out, and is scolded by Fangfang and Tiantian. Ziting claims to love Pierre, and is willing to endure hardship out of devotion. She tells Tiantian his happiness lies in Megan. He grimaces. Baojie arrives with a bouquet of flowers, and approaches Ping’an for permission to date Zihong. Everyone is startled. Ping’an asks him what he sees in Zihong. Without hesitation, he lists her virtues. Zijun is impressed. Caught in a conundrum, Zihong asks Liangliang for his opinion. Liangcai asks Yingxiong about his feelings towards Zihong and whether he is unable to move on from his relationship with his late wife. Ziting and Zixin encourage Zihong to give Baojie a chance. | Tiantian brings food to the residents. They talk about Yixiu being deaf-mute and living alone. Suddenly, Yixiu sees Fengying and her son walking by. Nervous, he hides from them. At Fangfang’s urging, Fengying takes her youngest son to H&H clinic. He Sheng diagnoses Aimin with a slight fever. Fengying takes issue with his diagnosis when he refuses to give her antibiotics and other medicine. Xie Xian is exceptionally friendly towards Fangfang. Her husband comes along and, under the impression Fangfang is an adulterer, beats him up. An old wound of Fangfang’s has opened, and he goes to see Ping’an about it. While being treated he talks to her about the marital problems between Xie Xian and her husband. He is concerned that Xie Xian is unhappy. Fangfang is in a dilemma as he still likes her. Ping’an mentions that the most important thing for Xie Xian to do now is to take care of her health before dealing with any other problem. Xie Xian’s husband, A-shan, apologises to Fangfang. The couple quarrels again. Fangfang forces them to sit down and resolve their issues amicably. Baojie brags to Zihao about his progress in courting Zihong. He mentions that she has agreed to watch a movie with him. Zihao does not think much of the goings-on. Zihao accidentally sends an intimate picture of Bryan and Yunyun to Zishan. Pierre presses Ziting about them living together, and asks if she has informed her family. Yuanyuan tells Xiaoqiang she is coming to Singapore. He is worried she will find out he has used up all the money she remitted. Baojie reminds Zihong about their movie date. She drags Datong along. Baojie gives up his ticket but waits for them and takes them home. On their way back, they bump into Yingxiong and Liangliang. Unhappy Baojie is wooing Zihong, Liangliang throws a tantrum. Perpetuating the legacy left by Yuanzhe, Prosperity Hall holds a charity consultation the day before the death anniversary. Not only do Ziting and the other family members have to help out with the business, they also have to prepare offerings for the death anniversary. Pierre comes to help out. He keeps asking Ziting if she has brought up the subject of cohabitation to Ping’an. Fangfang suggests Fengying should see a psychiatrist. Refusing to admit she is sick, she chases him away. Fengying’s children tell Fangfang they have a grandfather, though Fengying has said he is dead. Yingxiong comments that many patients miss Yuanzhe. At Prosperity Hall, Fengying is incensed that her father, Yixiu, had given her son an ice-cream, which she is sure is the reason he is coughing. Yingxiong and the others come to realise Fengying’s father is still alive and she bears a deep grudge against him. Fangfang counsels Fengying to put away her hatred towards her father and treasure their time together. Zihong notices that Fangfang is avoiding Ping’an, and asks him the reason. Bryan makes Yingxiong and Zishan the promise that he will break up with Yunyun. They do not trust him. Ziyu is demoted by the headquarters, and resigns in retaliation. Sky and the others gloat. | In her fury, Meiling slaps He Sheng and Zishan. He Sheng wakes up startled, and realises he has merely been having a nightmare. He Sheng asks Zishan if she has considered the consequences of them being in a relationship. She is willing to brave the odds, and he is reassured about his decision to break up with Meiling. Baojie tells Zihong it is inconceivable that Yingxiong would forgive her for no reason and insists there must be an ulterior motive. He adds that Liangliang’s hatred for her could have been instigated by Yingxiong too. The cobbler quarrels with his son over the ownership of his house. The residents advise the cobbler not to give the house to his son. Yuanhao avoids Yingxiong, as he is afraid he might probe into Yuanzhe’s death again. Yinhua and the others encourage Fangfang to court Ping’an. She rejects the idea unequivocably, and he is heartbroken. Tiantian tells Fengying he has not seen Yixiu for days. Fengying is unconcerned. | Infuriated, Zihong leaves in a huff. She bumps into Liangliang, who turns around and runs away. It is Liangcai who eventually comforts her and reassures her that Liangliang is not angry with her. Xiaoqiang returns from China. He couldn’t afford to pay his father’s medical bills and had to seek help from his relatives. Told that Zijun is ill, he becomes even more disheartened. He promises Ping’an he will strive to find a job and take care of Zijun and his son. Zishan is thrilled He Sheng is willing to break up with Meiling. Zixin admires Zishan for her courage but foresees the backlash that will spill over onto her, once the relationship is made public. Taking in her counsel, Zishan is left in a quandary. Ziting forces a smile in the presence of the people around her. Whenever alone, however, she gives in to the sadness she feels at the thought that Pierre treats her as a substitute for his late wife. Zihong is feeling depressed. Keeping her company, Baojie seizes the opportunity to ask her to go overseas with him while sowing more doubt about Yingxiong’s sincerity. Soon after, she does wake up, but he has fallen asleep. Yingxiong learns Zishan has broken up with He Sheng and jokes that she can go back to her first love, Xiaochuan. Ziting is listless and downcast. Yingxiong advises her to consider her own happiness. Appreciating his concern, she remarks that she hopes he is her brother. Baojie retaliates, saying Yingxiong is courting her only to avenge his late wife. Zihong is incensed. She lashes out that she does not love either of them, only herself. Ziyu regains consciousness. Despairing, Yixiu gives the cookbook to him instead. Zihong does not return home for a day. Ping’an worries, and Ziting wonders about the unusual behaviour. When Megan intervenes, Baojie chides her for not helping her kin. She warns him not to reveal they are siblings. At stake are the shares of their father’s company. Ping’an performs acupuncture on Zihao and is satisfied with the speedy improvement. Passing by the fruit stall, Ziyu greets Yuanhao. He is alarmed, and asks her not to mess up his stall again. Afraid he will say something nasty, Zishan pulls Ziyu away. Ziyu walks by the fruit stall again. Yuanhao deliberately details the dreadful things she did in the past. At Prosperity Hall, Xiaoqiang asks to leave early but is humiliated by Zihao, who claims they are both parasites. Yingxiong feels for Ping’an, who has been bullied by Zihao and his parents since Datong returned to his village. Ping’an hopes Zixin will quickly become Prosperity Hall’s physician, so that she can withdraw from the family disputes. Yingxiong and Zishan stumble upon Zixin and Yuhui fighting over Longyi. Zixin admits to Zishan that her initial aim was to get tips for the exams, but now she has fallen in love with Longyi. Yingxiong encourages her to complete her studies, and is willing to help her. The residents protest against Prosperity Hall’s reforms and Tiantian tries to mediate. Megan is jealous when he shows his concern for Ziting. William encourages Zishan to do something for the handicapped. He Sheng and Meiling register their marriage and return to the clinic. Meiling announces their plans to emigrate to Australia. Zihao suggests the cobbler should sell his house and move into an old folks’ home in a neighbouring country. Observing that Zihao disregards family ties, everyone worries about Yuanhao. Yuanhao learns Zihao is looking at fees for the various old folks’ homes and informs Shuzhi. She declares she will not leave her wealth to Zihao and will not give him a chance to send her to an old folks’ home. Megan is nice to Zihao on purpose, and is infuriated that Tiantian is unmoved. A friend tells Tiantian that Pierre had stayed in the Institute of Mental Health after his wife’s death, as he was not able to come to terms with his loss. Yingxiong helps Zixin revise her lessons. However, she keeps texting Longyi. Yingxiong feels Longyi is an arrogant man and Zixin should impress him with good results. Unable to forget Zishan, He Sheng wants to continue their relationship. Unhappy, Shuzhi warns her not to give lousy ideas to Zihao. Ziyu bumps into Yingxiong and Liangliang and offers to teach them Pilates. Yingxiong’s clumsy movements amuse her. When he scolds Liangliang for being rude to Ziyu, Liangliang retorts that he will not forgive her unless she kneels before him. Ziting tells Zijun she wants to change Pierre’s mindset. They are infuriated when Zishan refuses to entertain them. Meiling suggests a compromise. and they are able to leave with a big bottle of cough syrup. Zishan is harassed over the phone. Brushing her off, Zixin announces that she will convince Datong to hire him. Longyi returns. Given his capabilities, Ziyu wonders why he is not working at a prestigious hospital. Yingxiong reveals Longyi has been fired by the university. The RC chairman regrets He Sheng’s decision to migrate, and laments that He Sheng’s efforts for the community have gone to waste. Meiling blames Zishan, and she and He Sheng quarrel. Datong returns home to celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival with his family. Xiaoqiang brings Yuanyuan along and boasts about his achievements. Fed up, Zijun prepares to move back to the Huang residence. He tells her to find a dream and work towards it, just as he and Yuanyuan are doing. Zijun does not have enough money to pay for her meal. She bumps into Xiaoqiang, who does not have enough money either. Embarrassed, he asks Yuanyuan to pay the bill. Zijun cooks for Xiaoqiang in a gesture of remorse. When Yuanhao becomes agitated, Datong reveals he knows Yuanhao had colluded with outsiders to set Yingxiong up. He states that he has changed his will and Yuanhao will get nothing. Yuanhao and Shuzhi are devastated. Back at Prosperity Hall, Datong announces he is going to retire. Fangfang and Tiantian receive the “good neighbour” award. Out of the blue, Datong’s illegitimate son, Yaonan, shows up with his son, Zikang. Yaonan bears a striking resemblance to Yuanzhe, and everyone is shocked. Yuanhao collapses. Zihong and Baojie return to Singapore and reunite with Yingxiong. | ||
