List of reptiles of the Indiana Dunes

The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is a National Park Service unit on the shore of Lake Michigan in Indiana, United States. A BioBlitz took place there on May 15 and 16, 2009.[1] During that time, a list of organisms was compiled which included a preliminary list of the reptiles of the area.[2]

Turtles (Testudinate)

Lizards (Sauris)

  1. Cnemidophorus sexlineatus viridis[3][4] - Prairie Racerunner
  2. Plestiodon fasciatus[3] - Five-lined Skink
  3. Ophisaurus attenuatus attenuatus - Slender Glass Lizard[4]

Snakes (Serpentes)

  1. Coluber constrictor flaviventris[3] - Eastern Racer
  2. Heterodon platyrhinos[3] - Eastern Hognose Snake[4]
  3. Lampropeltis triangulum - Milk snake[4]
  4. Nerodia sipedon sipedon[3] - Northern Water Snake[4]
  5. Storeria dekayi wrightorum[3] - Midland Brown Snake[4]
  6. Thamnophis proximus Western ribbon snake[4]
  7. Thamnophis sirtalis[4] - Common Garter Snake
  8. Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis[3] - Eastern Garter Snake
