Emilie  France The brig was wrecked on Nash Point, Glamorgan, United Kingdom with the loss of all eight crew.[1]

Ship Country Description
Brechin Castle  United Kingdom The barque foundered in the Bristol Channel with the loss of more than fifteen lives. She was on a voyage from Port Adelaide, South Australia to Swansea, Glamorgan.[1]

Ship Country Description
Grana Uile  United Kingdom The paddle steamer, Liverpool for Drogheda caught fire 30 miles east of Lambay Island and north west of Anglesey and sank. 69 passengers and crew saved by fishing smack Bessey; about thirty lives lost (maybe more as not all passengers were counted), included Captain Rawden.[2]

William  United Kingdom The William shifted at her berth in Holy Island Harbour on Lindisfarne on 17 April 1847. The vessel settled on her anchor, puncturing the hull. Water got to the cargo of quicklime and the boat caught fire, only eventually being extinguished by the rising tide.[3]

Stephen Whitney  United Kingdom The ship was wrecked on West Calf Island, County Cork with the loss of 92 of the 110 people on board. She was on a voyage from New York, United States to Liverpool, Lancashire.

Phoenix  United States A screw-driven passenger ship. Burned on Lake Michigan with the lost of at least 190 lives.

Henry  United Kingdom The barque was wrecked on the Tusker Rock, in the Bristol Channel with the loss of one of her nineteen crew. Survivors were rescued by William and Jane ( United Kingdom). Henry was on a voyage from Liverpool, Lancashire to Cardiff, Glamorgan.[1]
Leith Packet  United Kingdom The ship was wrecked on the Tusker Rock. Her crew were rescued. She was on a voyage from Newport, Monmouthshire to Stirling.[1]

HMS Avenger  Royal Navy The frigate was wrecked on the Sorelle Rocks, off the coast of Malta with the loss of 242 of her 250 crew.
