List of works of fiction set in 2016

This is a list of works of fiction set largely or wholly in 2016.

Literature

• Spinneret (1985) by Timothy Zahn is set on an overpopulated Earth in 2016. The US and Europe launch space missions in the hope of finding other habitable planets for humans to move to.
• Dead Heat (2008) by Joel C. Rosenberg is set in 2016, where the District of Columbia is annihilated by two nuclear warheads, killing millions, including the President and the entirety of Congress. Other cities across the US, such as New York, Seattle and Los Angeles, are reduced to fallout wastelands.

Computer and video games

• Gungriffon Blaze (2000)
• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3's campaigns mostly take place in 2016.
• Infamous Second Son takes place in 2016, seven years after Infamous 2 (which took place in 2009).
• Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (2001) takes place in this year, except the fifth case ("Rise from the Ashes"), which takes place in February 2017.

Film

• Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
• New Dominion Tank Police (1993)
• Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) - The film was set 20 years after Independence Day (1996)
• Finding Dory (2016) is set in 2016, one year after the events of its 2003 predecessor Finding Nemo (which means that film would have taken place in 2015).

Television

• Young Justice: Invasion (2012) takes place in this year, 5 years after the original show, Young Justice.
• The Pretty Little Liars episode Of Late I Think of Rosewood takes place in 2016.
• The season 1 finale of Scream Queens, The Final Girl(s), takes place between January and May 2016.
• Quantico, season 1 (2015)

Music

• The music video for the Rick Springfield 1983 song "Human Touch" takes place in 2016.
