Lukhdhirji Engineering College,Morbi popularly known as L.E. College or LEC Morbi, is one of most prestigious and oldest technical institution of Gujarat located in Morbi district. The institute was established as a polytechnic in 1931, it was then known as Morvi Technical Institute (MTI) and finally it was upgraded to a full fledged degree engineering college in 1951 when The Late Honorable His Highness Maharaja Lukhdhirjsinghji of Morvi State donated his palace with 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land on the bank of river Machhu and thus institute was named after him. The institute is operated by the government of Gujarat and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.

The campus boasts of a palatial building, technical workshops and state of the art labs, SIEMENS Center of Excellence(CoE) in Industrial Machinery, vast expanse of sports fields and separate boys and girls hostels and thus with huge and modern infrastructure it occupies the proud position of having one of the biggest educational campus in the entire state. Since its inception, more than 15000 engineers have graduated from this institute and its alumni consists of prominent industrialists, corporate honchos, scientists & academicians, vice chancellors of various universities and advisers to the Department of Science & Technology.

Campus

L.E.College campus is located on the banks of river Machhu in Morbi, Gujarat. The entire campus is divided into clusters of buildings. The academic area consists of various departmental buildings, Administration Block, Students Amenities Building, Badminton Court and Swimming pool. Academic area is divided into Old Campus and New Campus. Following are the buildings located in academic area:

Further college has separate boys and girls hostel which can accommodate around 1200 students. The hostel campus occupies the area of around 25 acres. Hostel Machhu A, Machhu B, Machhu D, Machhu E, New Hill, NVP and New Hostel are for boys and Hostel Machhu F & Machhu G are for girls. The college has its own cricket ground with pavilion which spans over 6 acres.

SIEMENS in association with Government of Gujarat has established a Center of Excellence(CoE) in Industrial Machinery in the college campus. The CoE organizes several certification courses like PLC Scada, NX and NX Advance, Induction Motor Training etc in order to train students and enhance their knowledge and give them a platform to apply the concepts learnt in theory class.

Activities

Apart from conventional departments, L.E. College Morbi has several other important organizations and cells which are run jointly by students, alumni and institute and cater to the purpose as defined in their respective charter. Following is a glimpse of some of the organizations & cells and their activities and aims.

1. Lenco Alumni Association

The mission of LENCO Alumni Association is to reach, engage and serve all alumni and present students by networking with one another to foster a life long intellectual and emotional connection between college and its graduate. The association organizes reunion every year and along with it they also organize 'Annual Gold Medal Award Function' in which toppers of the most recent graduated batch are awarded a gold medal and a certificate by the alumni association.

2. NCC

The institute is a part of Rajkot Battalion of NCC. The cadets from this institute regularly participates in the camps and drills organized by NCC at state and national level and has brought laurels for the institute. Presently it is mentored by Prof. K. K. Dave from Mechanical Engineering Department.

3. Center of Creativity(COC)

This department of established in 2012 by then principle Prof. P.C. Vasani in order to promote extra curricular activities in the institute. Since its inception, COC has organized 4 techfests ( VIJAYANT '12, '13, '14 and '15), several cultural activities such as Saptdhara, Matru Bhasa Divas, Annual Open House etc. The department is one of the most dynamic department of the institute which regularly organizes curricular and extra curricular activities and thus provides the platform to the students to showcase their talents and nurture their temperament. The department is chaired by Prof. M.H. Ayalani and has several dynamic and enthusiastic faculties associated with it like Prof. K.K. Dave, Prof. Jagruti Bheda etc.

4. Electrical Engineering Students Association(EESA)

Electrical Engineering Students Association is a local student chapter at Electrical Engineering Department established by the enthusiasts of 2016 batch. The aim of this student chapter is to push the budding electrical engineers of the institute out of their comfort zone so that they can become an edge apart from others and also to foster and nurture their technical temperament. EESA also aims to strengthen the sense of unity and brotherhood among various batches of Electrical Department(graduated and current batches). Apart from technical lectures, seminars, symposiums etc. EESA also organizes various non technical activities at the departmental level such as Welcome & Farewell Functions, College Days, Departmental Day etc.

5. Training, Placements & Personality Development Cell (TP&PDC)

This is perhaps the most important and vital student organization of the institute. Established by the enthusiasts of 2016 batch under the visionary leadership and guidance of then principal Prof. P.C. Vasani and then TPO Prof. U.K. Chhaya, the cell has been instrumental in transforming the dreams of various stakeholders into reality. The cell was established with the aim of helping the students in grooming their overall personality and thus helping them in securing their dream jobs by the means of campus placements. The cell regularly organizes various activities under its banner such as Aptitude Test Series, Group Discussion Sessions, Mock PI Competition, Expert Lectures, Alumni Guest Lectures, Personality Development Workshops etc. TP&PDC also organizes Pre-Placement Campaigns every year so as to help the final year students for the upcmoing campus placements season. Back to back seminars, workshops and competitions are organized in Pre-Placement campaigns.

The idea of TP&PDC was welcomed by student fraternity and college authorities and due to their enormous support only TP&PDC was able to achieve very important milestones within year on its inception. TP&PDC was awarded certificate of merit for 'Pedagogical & Co-Curricular Initiatives' by LENCO Alumni Association at 6th Gold Medal Award Ceremony in January 2015. TP&PDC was awarded the prestigious 'Innovative Students Co-creation Award for Leadership & Excellence' by GTU Innovation Council on 4th Innovation Sankul Day Celebration in February 2015. Also TP&PDC was a part of case study done by a prominent faculty of IIM Ahmedabad.

6. Gymkhana

L.E. College Morbi gives equal emphasis on sports and every year Annual Sports Week is organized in the even semester and various tournaments are organized in this week covering wide range of sports such as Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton etc. Students of L.E. College also participate in University Sports Meets and National Sports Meet. College sports teams have bought laurels in various games like Cricket, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho etc in past.

7. VIJAYANT - The Annual Tech fest

VIJAYANT is the annual techfest of the institute. Its first edition was pioneered by 2012 batch and thus from then onward, the fest is organized every year with great enthusiasm and attracts participation from different institutes across the state. The latest edition of VIJAYANT was organized on 19 and 20 March 2015. It had more than 18 events(technical+non technical) and more than 1600 students participated in it. The theme of the techfest was 'Born to Win'.

Placements

L.E. College Morbi has always been a top choice of recruiters and thus every year large number of companies visit the campus for on-campus/off-campus placements and offer jobs in various profiles to final year students. Several MNCs like Infosys, ABB, Essar, Tata Motors, L&T, Reliance Industries Limited etc. and some prominent PSUs like WASMO, GNFC etc have visited L.E. College Morbi for placement in recent years. For 2016 batch several prominent MNCs have visited the campus so far and recruited students with a good CTC. The industries which visited college campus for placements of 2016 batch are Zeus Learning, JustDial.com, Hitachi Hirel Power Electonics Limited, Wipro Technologies,Collebara, Torrecid, Sanmar, Tata Chemicals, Ferromatic Milacron, Adani Power, Mahindra Gears, Electrotherm India Limited, Suzlon, Harsha Engineers, Ginza Surat, Shankar Packaging etc. Also placement season for 2017 has already begun and is going on in full pace.
