Mahabis

Mahabis, (stylised as mahabis) is an e-commerce footwear company founded by entrepreneur and former barrister Ankur Shah.[1] Headquartered in London, with manufacturing in Europe, mahabis launched exclusively online in July 2014.[2]

Products

mahabis sells a range of slippers and accessories, and is known for ‘reinventing the traditional slipper’ with a minimalist design and detachable soles for outdoors.[1][2] Their slippers feature a detachable sole so that they can be used both indoors and outdoors.[3]

The designs of the slipper and the detachable sole were developed using techniques such as 3D printing.[4] This enabled the brand to take the product from conception to market more quickly than traditional methods. The final product features materials conventionally used outside of textiles, such as neoprene and TPU.[2]

Since launching in July 2014, mahabis has featured in the Financial Times,[5] The Guardian,[6] InStyle,[7] WIRED UK,[3] Hypebeast,[8] and on the 2015 runways of both London Fashion Week and GFW, as covered by Vogue.[9]

Awards

The company was given the Best Innovation in Footwear award at the Drapers Footwear Awards in 2015,[10] and was also a finalist in two categories at those same awards.[11]
