Masabi (company)

Masabi is a London based technology company that develops and markets mobile ticketing services for public transport companies. The company builds mobile apps for electronic ticket and fare collection, allowing users to buy tickets by app, and allowing the bus or rail conductor to check the tickets by mobile phone. The company's customers include public transit authorities in Boston, London, Athens, Las Vegas [1][2] and Los Angeles.[3]

The company was founded in 2001.[4] In 2012, the company launched the first ticketless rail system in the United States, for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.[5] In December 2015, the company raised $12 million in venture capital from an investor group including the public transport operator Keolis, MasterCard, Lepe Partners and existing investor MMC Ventures.[2][6]
