Matlock Preparatory Academy (West Palm Beach) Florida

Matlock Preparatory Academy is a college preparatory school serving students in grades 9-12.

School Profile

Matlock Academy is a unique private high school for students looking for an environment that nurtures their academic potential and growth. Student classes are small, and teachers are available throughout the day to ensure the mastery of academic subject matter. A majority of our high school graduates are awarded academic, merit, art and athletic scholarships at their Universities of choice. Matlock uses a unique approach to teaching students by learning in a decompressed environment. Various methods of stress reduction are taught to students to help them cope with test taking, study skills, and achieving academic success. Matlock Academy is an academically focused high school and currently does not have a sports program, yet many students compete for their districted public schools and other private athletic programs.

Special Program

Matlock Academy has numerous dual enrollment affiliation agreements with local universities. This program is available for 11th and 12th graders that carry a minimum 3.25 GPA.

International Students

Matlock Academy is approved by SEVIS to issue I-20's to International Students that meet the admissions requirements for enrollment. SEVIS was established as part of ICE's (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) objective to restore integrity to the immigration system. By more effectively managing status information on international students and exchange visitors in the United States, SEVIS plays a key role in ICE’s homeland security mission while ensuring that all eligible international students and exchange visitors can experience the benefits of America’s exceptional schools, educational programs, and cultural opportunities. It took two years for Matlock Academy to receive this approval.

Homeschool Program

The Homeschool program is over 20 years old and is integrated with the day school program. Students receive specific instruction for the homeschool program and one on one tutoring. Some families choose to homeschool their children due to religious beliefs, while others choose to do so because of dissatisfaction with other educational options. Many parents of children with handicaps choose to homeschool because they feel more prepared to meet the needs of their child.

Summer School

Students usually attend Summer School for enrichment purposes, making up a grade, or accelerating their current education. A student wishing to graduate earlier than their prescribed date may take credits in summer school to achieve this goal. The summer school has been opened to any high school student in Palm Beach County.
