Michael Enright (born c.1964) is a British actor. Enright played supporting characters in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (as deckhand) and Old Dogs, as well as in several TV series (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Julien Beckers, Law & Order: LA as Nick, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Sammy Cutler, Cold Case as Ric Yanko and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior as Thomas Luca, "Castle" as Noel Du Preez.[1] In 2015, Enright volunteered for the Kurdish People's Protection Units to fight ISIL.

Early life

Born in Manchester, United Kingdom, Enright became a journeyman actor at the age of 16.[2] He grew up in the Moss Side area of Manchester.[2] At the age of 19 Enright moved to Hollywood.[2] After the September 11 attacks in 2001, Enright had planned to enlist in the US Army and join the War on Terror, but was dissuaded from it by friends.[2]

Kurdish YPG

Enright has joined the Kurdish YPG to fight against ISIL in January 2015, after watching the execution of Jordanian pilot Muath al-Kasasbeh.[2] Enright contacted the Kurdish People's Protection Units through his British SAS friend and was told to fly to the Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaymaniyah via Istanbul.[2] According to Enright, he passed physical training in the People's Protection Units and learned to assemble and dismantle a Kalashnikov rifle blindfolded in order to be able to perform it at night on the front line.[2] Enright was given an AK-47, and says he performs sentry duty on the front line.[2]

Former U.S. soldier Jordan Matson, who is fighting with the YPG, has called Enright "mentally unstable" and accused him of trying to sell his story to the media.[3][4][5]
