Michael L. Brodman, M.D. is an American gynecologist and obstetrician and currently the Ellen and Howard C. Katz Chairman’s Chair and Professor of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at The The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.[1] He is recognized internationally as a pioneer in the field of urogynecology.[2]

Brodman is the Board Examiner for American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology,[3] and has been a member of both the Council on Resident Education in OB/GYN (CREOG) and the Association of Professors in OB/GYN (APGO). He has twice received the APGO/CREOG Award for Teaching Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Brodman has been the Principal or co-investigator on 19 grants and has published multiple book chapters and abstracts. He appeared in the documentary film, The Business of Being Born, in 2008.[4]

Biography

Brodman received his BS from Rutgers College of Engineering in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1975. He earned his MS from the University of South Carolina's College of Engineering in 1977, and his M.D. from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1982.[1] Post-doctoral training included a residency and a fellowship in pelvic surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Brodman is involved in several global health initiatives and serves on the board of the International Organization for Women and Development, an organization that performs fistula repair surgery in Niger.[5]
