Milan Vojnovic is a researcher with the Systems and Networking group at Microsoft Research Cambridge.[1] He received his Ph.D. in Communication Systems from EPFL, Switzerland, in 2003 under Jean-Yves Le Boudec, and both his Masters and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Split in Croatia in 1998 and 1995, respectively.

Research

Vojnovic's research focuses on the modeling and performance evaluation of computer systems and services. More specifically, his work has made contributions to algorithms and systems for data transport.[2] One of Vojnovic's most significant contributions has come in the area of network modelling, where he has made significant contributions to several topics including congestion control, mobility modelling, queueing performance and filecasting.

His work has had significant impact in both academia and industry, and he has been recognized by the ACM SIGMETRICS Rising Star award, given for outstanding contributions to computer/communication performance evaluation by a research not more than 7 years from their PhD,[3] and by the ERCIM Cor Baayen Award, given to a promising young European researcher in computer science and applied mathematics.[4] Additionally, Vojnovic has received "Best Paper" awards at a number of prestigious conferences, including INFOCOM, SIGMETRICS, and ITC.
