Mominpura Graveyard

Mominpura Graveyard is one among the oldest graveyards of Lahore, Pakistan. It is the most important and oldest of the Shia community graveyards in Lahore. According to the records, more than 10,000 people are buried here. There are very old graves, some of them being hundreds of years old, in this graveyard. It is situated near the famous Lakshami Chowk opposite to Empire Cinema. The graveyard was established by the Qizilbash family. The graveyard belongs to the Shia sect of Islam.Many of the famous people from various walks of life are buried here like Qamar Zaidi (film director) Nasir Kazmi, Sayyid Sajjad Rizavi, Mushaf Ali Mir, Asad Amanat Ali Khan Wajahat Atrey etc.

The graveyard is also famous for sad and unique type of sectarian terrorism during a religious gathering(Majlis) of Shia sect. the incident happened when a group of terrorists entered the graveyard and opened the fire on innocent people(including children and old people). 22 people died as a result of this criminal attempt "22 killed in attack on Shia cemetery".
