Montreal Arts Interculturels (French: Montréal, arts interculturels, abbreviated MAI) is a building encompassing a theatre, an art gallery, and a café-bar in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.[1] It is located on Jeanne-Mance Street.[2] It opened in 2000,[3] and exhibits contemporary art, dance, music, theatre, painting, sculpture, and video.[4] The mission of MAI is to facilitate and initiate intercultural relations.[5] Sylvie Lachance is the general and artistic director.[6] Nathalie Bonjour was previously the director.[7] In 2000, MAI supported a colloquium called "Sports et villes; enjeux économiques et socioculturels" (English: "Sports and Cities: Socio-economic issues") along with other organisations such as the Université du Québec à Montréal and the Institut national de la recherche scientifique.[8]
