Post Graduate Diploma In Management (Agribusiness Management)

Selection Process

Pedagogy

The Postgraduate Diploma in Management (Agribusiness Management) enables agricultural graduates to acquire the competence to function as effective agri-business managers. The response from Indian and multinational agri-business companies in placement of students as management trainees, and their interest in assigning summer projects to them, validates the launching of the programme. The programme, launched in 1996, is recognized by the AICTE, NBA, AIU. On completion of the programme, successful candidates are awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Agri-Business Management) equivalent to an MBA.

Features

Theoretical concepts, knowledge, skills and managerial capabilities are taught. To enrich the learning process, projects, assignments, interaction with experts and agri-business executives are organized. The two-year program has a good mix of general management subjects and specialised subjects pertaining to Agribusiness with case study and project based modules to ensure holistic knowledge empartment. Events like, debates and elocution contests, management games, corporate and industrial visits are organized.

Live projects allow a student to gain corporate exposure. Students are shortlisted for projects depending on their areas of interest. Cargill India Pvt. Ltd., Advanta India Ltd., Yes Bank, Coromandel International Ltd, Devgen Seeds, ITC and Bayer CropScience Ltd. are some of the companies that have taken in students for short term projects.

The summer training at MANAGE is an eight to ten week process over the fourth trimester. The students generally work on individual 'real life' projects to sharpen their problem solving skills. Companies view the process as a form of pre-recruitment, and hence award several students a Pre-Placement Offer.

In the Village Visit Programme the students stay in villages with farmers for a fortnight. This programme provides the students, an opportunity to understand areas for development in agriculture, as well as the constraints faced by the farmers. At the end of the study visit, a report is prepared on the status of agri-economy of the village, analysis of the constraints in agriculture and allied sectors, identifying opportunities for growth and formulating developmental strategies for the village.
