Overview

Nordost is known in the audiophile community as offering some of the best high performance cable designs in existence. Nordost was founded in 1991 to manufacture audio cables for the high-end market using technology originally developed for the aerospace industry and NASA.[2] Their original Flatline cable was the first loudspeaker cable to use FEP (Fluorinated Ethene Propylene).[3] All Nordost cables use a flexible FEP insulation originally developed by DuPont.[4] In addition to using FEP, Nordost has introduced patented proprietary technologies related to conductor design, such as Dual/Micro-Mono Filament design, TSC (Total Signal Control), and the HOLO:PLUG connectors.[5] All Nordost products are manufactured at their facilities in the USA.[6]

Nordost produces four series of cable products ranging in price and performance (Leif, Norse 2, Valhalla 2, Odin Supreme Reference). In addition to cables and interconnects, the company also manufactures the QRT line of power purifiers and a line of Sort System vibration controlling devices.[7] In 2014, Nordost introduced the first American-made HDMI cable. The Blue Heaven HDMI cable uses Nordost's proprietary Micro Mono-Filament construction and is DPL certified.[8]
