NorthRiver Yacht Club

NorthRiver Yacht Club is a private golf club in Tuscaloosa, Alabama which officially opened in 1978. The course was originally designed by professional golfer Gary Player but was redesigned in 1997 by noted architect Bob Cupp. The course features bent grass and is set up to both challenge expert players while being forgiving to beginners still new to the game.

In September 2012 Honours Golf acquired management rights of NorthRiver Yacht Club from The Westervelt Company.

The signature hole at NorthRiver is the 17th, which is a par 3 hole featuring a green on a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water.[1]

Besides golf, NorthRiver offers several amenities. NorthRiver's tennis maintains 8 lighted Rubico and 3 lighted hard courts for both individual matches and tournament play. The main courts at the Tennis Pavilion offer easy access to casual dining at the Golf Club, while the Yacht Club courts provide a dramatic, expansive view of Lake Tuscaloosa. NorthRiver's tennis professionals offer a comprehensive tennis program, organized clinics as well as individual or group lessons. The tennis program is highly praised by players of all levels and ages. Aquatics consist of two separate pools. The Olympic-sized Yacht Club pool is available May to September, and the heated indoor-outdoor Golf Club pool is open year-round. A grassy beach and scenic lake view can be found at the Captain's Cabin, while the Marina can accommodate a boat or arrange for lake excursions with a club-owned pontoon boat. For a healthy body, a fully equipped workout facility awaits. Qualified fitness instructors lead a variety of exercise classes and provide personal training and attention. After an intense workout, members can enjoy the spa, which includes a steam room, whirlpool and massage room.

Excellence in dining is a NorthRiver tradition. The Golf View Dining Room is a hub of activity at NorthRiver and is located on the upper floor overlooking the 18th green. The dining room serves dinner Wednesday through Saturday. The Golf View Room’s casual atmosphere is ideal for the whole family and features an exquisite family brunch every Sunday. The Sports Lobby, on the lower level, is open Tuesday through Sunday serving breakfast favorites, sandwiches, soups, salads and special daily entrees along with an assortment of soft and hard beverages.

Located on the Yacht Club grounds is The Jack Warner at NorthRiver, an upscale hotel with space for conference rooms and full club access for all guests lodging there.[2][3]

The NorthRiver Yacht Club separates itself from other club by acting as museum of curios and art from around the world. It boasts several original Basil Ede prints, the largest bronze statue of an elephant in the world, and one of the world's largest brass chandeliers.
