Oliver Michael Rathbone (born 10 October 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League One side Rochdale.[1][2] He is the son of former footballer, most notably of Blackburn Rovers, Mick Rathbone.[3]

Career

Club

Rathbone started in the youth ranks of Manchester United. On 21 February 2013, Rathbone scored a 40-yard winner in an U18s game against Derby County.[4] The goal won Man. United's Goal of the Month award.[5] After failing to make the breakthrough at Man. United, Rathbone was released in June 2016 and subsequently, on 24 June, agreed to join League One side Rochdale, signing a one-year contract.[6][3] He made his competitive debut on 4 October in the EFL Trophy against Notts County. Four days later, Rathbone made his league debut in a 3–0 home win against Southend United.[1] On 22 November, Rathbone scored his first senior career goal in a 4–0 win over Walsall.[1][7]
