Duggirala is a village in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Duggirala mandal in Tenali revenue division.[1][3]

Government and politics

Duggirala gram panchayat is the local self-government of the village.[4] It is divided into 12 wards and each ward is represented by Ward Members.[5] These Ward members are also referred as Panchs, who are directly elected by the villagers.[6] The elected members of the gram panchayat are headed by the president of the village, known as Sarpanch.

The term of the elected representatives is five years. While, the Secretary of the panchayat is a non-elected representative, appointed by the state government, to oversee panchayat activities.[7] Nagamani Bannaravuri is the sarpanch and Shaik Vaheeda is the vice–sarpanch of the panchayat.[5] The secretary of the panchayat is Venkataappaji Kondamudi.[8]

Transport

Namburu–Penumuli road connects the village with Namburu. While, Duggirala railway station provides rail connectivity, situated near the village.[9]

Education

The primary and secondary school education is imparted by government, aided and private schools, under the School Education Department of the state.[10][11] The total number of students enrolled in primary, upper primary and high schools of the village are 296.[12]
